  • I urge the guys to consider (for the 'future') the possibility of making new versions compatible with saves from the previous version. This could be a huge selling-point for the game. People (like me) who buy every second or third version would be far more likely (in my case, certain) to get every one.

If there are vast unseen differences in the database that make this truly impossible, what about offering a (simple?) utility for converting a ICC10 database into an ICC11 one?

    • A similar thing, an option to play from, say 2008, with the ICC08 DB, which then changes the next year to the next DB, being Icc09, but with the career stats unchanged, but the ratings and competition formats and possibly even the transfers are automatic. I think this would be cool.

I've often thought it'd be cool to start from a previous season, and allowing the game that you don't affect to evolve like it did in the real world. It'd also be handy for retirements, and such, as players can retire/play on as they did in real life.

        • Also, a sort by nationality option in the player records, and being able to see "All Players" when in control of a national team

          • The compatibility thing is a great idea (which are often few and far between on here)

            • i would personally like to see a more player oriented structure.
i dont know about everyone else but it feels like you pick your team now mostly on player names more then anything. i dont see what training does either, the system they have for it now doesnt show off what it could.

have individual player abilities eg; (just off the top of my head)
BATS Offside 67 Legside 75 Backfoot 30 Frontfoot 90 VS pace 70 Vs spin 10
              BOWL Seam 40 Swing 30 Accuracy 80 Slowerball 19 Bouncer 20 etc
(you could also have Fitness, and strength, fielding) and you can administer training programs to help raise all these levels rather then just sticking your 6 best batsmen on batting training and some bowlers on Physio

Could also show how well they play against spin, pace, overseas, homeground advantage, facing the new ball, or even pitches they prefer.

Player skills; like Mike Hussey (Finisher) or Alastair Cook (Opener) Michael Clarke (Spin Specialist). not all players would have them, and they would give advantages to the players that do and would at least make you think abit more before picking a side (against india with spin bowlers you might pick Michael)

This would also help with scouting for new players and up and coming youngsters and make picking a team more personal then just picking players on name basis.

Check out my post earlier in this thread for my spin on that, and see if it has enough detail for y'all

                  ??? this one?
yh so you get the idea. it would also help with strategies a bit. say on of the batsmen are useless against spin but spectacular against pace.

                  • I think that if all these abilities are there, they should be hidden. In real life can you tell exactly how good against pace, spin etc. someone is in an exact percentage form. I like the way it is done now in the way that it (the game (you just lost it))tells you what the players preferences are as this realistic. What I would ultimately like is not to have solid player ratings, rather to have malleable skill levels. E.g. a player might be poor at the beginning, but turn out to be a great player in the end. For example, Kevin Pietersen started out as a spinner (so not awesome with the bat), but has become a strong international batsman since. I'm not saying I want the ability for players to change their selected disciplines, just for them to be able to get significantly better (or worse) over time.

                    • Not sure if this has already been mentioned but I would like separate stats for each competition (eg Championship, Uni matches etc) because it can be confusing looking at FC averages which also include Tests, which means it can be more difficult to look at the progress of a player for your county when his stats are being skewed by internationals. Same goes for List A because counties play 40 overs whereas internationals are 50.

Thats how its done it real life so I highly doubt they're going to change it.

                        • Yes I know that's how its done but with things like Cricinfo you can look at players' stats in seperate competitions and forms of the game. I just mean so that you can organise stats for the different forms so you can get more detail on specefic players. For example, in my current game James Taylor has a FC average of about 53 but a test average below 40, and I would like to be able to see his averages just in county games for me because I feel his Championship average will be quite a bit higher. In my current season he has played 4 FC games for me and scored stupid amounts of runs at an average of 421.5, he naturally got an England call up and has since not played so well for England and his average has 'plummeted' to 'only' 200, I really only care how he plays for me, so when I look back his test averages may alter my perception of how well he played for me in that season. It would also be nice to filter to stats against specific opposition, top 10 high scores and top partnerships that player has been involved in. It would also be good if you could save scorecards of matches you feel are memorable

I agree with this, and as for saving scorecards, you can already do it with the printscreen option on your keyboard.

                            • You can output scorecards to a text file as well, though it's not as in depth as it could be
