Not at all impressed with ICC 2009

I am not at all impressed with ICC 2009 because :

    1. There is no CHAMPIONS TROPHY
    2. There is no IPL
    3. There is no T20 World Cup after every 2 years as it should be.
    4. There are no records like - HIGHEST RUN SCORER EVER etc and etc.
    5. I feel like playing ICC 2008 always.
    6. There is no ' MAN OF THE SERIES' or ' PLAYER OF THE YEAR'
    7. I feel in ICC 2009 , in Domestic Cricket, there must be atleast 3 overseas players to make the game more interesting.

teams don't have 3 overseas players.

couldn't be fussed with IPL, but the champions trophy should be, as should more involvement with the half members (Ireland/Holland and so on playing ODI)

I did notice that USA were in the world cup.. didn't know they had qualified for it!!

Had a very interesting 3rd season as Northamptonshire.

I started really bad. Shakey in county, horrible in challenge, and horrible in twenty20. In doing the contracts for this season I shed a bunch of kolpak players (I had way too many) and older players (both choice and retirement), so my team had a lot of good but pretty unproven young players. Plus, my international player (Afridi) was unavailable for the first chunk of the season (apparently playing an 'international tournament', but not for pakistan).

Things started to take shape, though. Some of my young players started coming through. A couple on their second season with me made it into the English team for a few games (a batsmen and a fast bowler). Plus, my spinners were performing very well in the second innings. So, I managed to get promoted to D1 in the county league (jumped from 3rd to 2nd by beating the 2nd placed team in the last game.. tense) and a reasonable showing in the pro-league finished me fifth (and thus, kept myself in D1).

So now I'm in D1 for both county and pro-l. Yay. Contracts went well, kept my key players, shed some deadweight, and grabbed some new hopes. So bright season ahead, i hope.

HEY bigmo52, u said Ur bowlers r performing very well, just give ur line up and few pics of Ur field settings in a 50 over game

hey my bowling line up is ishant sharma and rp singh opening, with harbhajan singh as my main spinner. i also have irfan pathan as second change. i make up the other 10 overs with yusuf pathan, rohit sharma and ravi jadeja.

i dont set my own fields, but attack with my pace bowlers and am very defensive with my spin bowlers, seems to work.

however the problem i have is with my batting. am using ghambhir and sehwag to open and have yuvi and dhoni as the other batsmen.

am struggling to balance my team really!!!

Just managed a remarkable victory to save the Ashes from going back to England!

Absolutely incredible! Looked destined for a draw after they went so damn slow in the first innings, I went quick in my reply but was 160 runs down when I declared. I declared hoping my bowling could knock them over cheaply so I can go in for a big final innings run chase. Hauritz and Johnson destroyed them! All out for 170! Then Hughesy and Clarke smashed their ways to big scores as I made the target with less then 20 minutes to spare on the final day! What a 5th Test to finish a series in which I was lucky to save!

Not a bad series from Phil Hughes with 689 runs @ 76. With 3 big hundreds (including a double) and 2 fifties. Katich was also good with 529 runs and 2 hundreds. Ponting was superb with 3 hundreds and and 555 runs. Clarke got 597 runs with 2 hundreds. Hussey 2 hundreds and 553 runs. As you can see the batsman were in magical form, with the only batsman to fail being Marcus North - who I dropped for the 5th Test in exchange for Callum Ferguson who hit a handy 48 on debut.

From the bowlers, Johnson was my main striker getting 21 wickets with 7/89 in the first innings of the series. Hauritz was the man in the final Test after missing the 2nd, 3rd and 4th due to choosing 4 seamers. Stuey Clark played from the 2nd Test and grabbed 22 wickets @ 28. Siddle was average getting 16 wickets from 5 Tests as was Hilfenhaus with 12 wickets from the first four Tests. Brett Lee was overlooked for the whole series.

            ODI series coming up next.

How good is Phillip Hughes? I posted up somewhere (pre-patch) that after 34 Tests, he had an average of 88.55 with 25 100's and 11 50's, and after 75 ODI's (I think it was 75), he had 40 100's and an average of 92.

After the patch he seems to have dropped back down to more realistic performances, but still very very good. I reckon he could be the first player to crack the 25000 Test Runs for me. I've never done that in all ICC games. 24678 is the closest I got in ICC3 with Ponting

I didn't know where to put this, but I just wanted to commend the modification of some of the highlights; in particular, when a batsman gets hit, we get a nice long shot of them doubled over and struggling to regain their balance. (Call me a sadist. )

                -----------

Just finished my first season at Hampshire. In the championship, we finished fifth with 8 wins, 2 draws and 6 losses; but most notable was the fact that we had an absolutely atrocious season with the bat, getting only 23 batting points. Nic Pothas was the only batsman to get more than 1000 runs. We managed to win half our matches almost entirely on the back of our bowling efforts - three times, our bowlers knocked over oppositions for under 100 in the final innings. Imran Tahir took 83 championship wickets and Tremlett 64. In the shorter forms of the game, we bombed in the Twenty20 (I play all my second-string players), were knocked out at the group stage in the Challenge Trophy, but won the Pro-League. All up, I'm pleased with how the season went, but there will have to be some squad restructuring for the next season.

Just finished my free trial now waiting for the cd version to pop through my door

as england 1st 2 tests against the windies were easy picking although Jimmy Anderson had a bad couple of test as did Ali Cook

is it just my game or does Swann get injusred alot out for the whole of the 20/20 and the ashes???
flintoff missed to ashes tests aswell but that is very realistic lol

I lost 2-1 in the one dayers 2 the Windies, on to the T20 world cup i beat holland and pakistan before losing to scotland by 10 wickets in the super 8's!!! all out for 97 was abit of a joke but cant win all the time. anyways beat indie comfortably before losing to the old aussies by 1 ball!!!that hurt.

to the ashes and people that say hughes is a beast is wrong on my game but I just read that the update sorted that lol. I got him for 89&24 in the 1st test then after that 6&27, 1&8, 39&22, and then 0&8 bowling shorter and outside his off stump seemed to work to him!!!anyways I won the ashes 3-0 and now cant wait for the actuall game.

A question though...as Im gettting the sisc version will I be able to carry that game on or have to start again??

im with warwickshire and im struggling a little, particuarly in OD matches. My bowling attack is pathetic atm. my batsmen are fine. Im gonna try and struggle my way to the end of the season and then get a completely new bowling lineup. i will only keep woakes, clarke and mushtaq (i signed him before the start of my first/current season) and the rest i will drop. Clarke got a double hundred on his debut and Westwood got a 300

During my Ashes tour in England (im australia) I made like 1000.

                          Ponting made 430 odd and
                          Clarke 330 odd.

                          Epic

Up there as one of my best

Just wanted share this, one of my best matches ever.
To set the stage, 2010 Glamorgan, Normal. Still in D2, building a decent squad and looking to get into D1. Prior to this game played 6 games, for 1 win and 5 draws, and 5th on the ladder.

Batted brilliantly, at 4 an over, declaring at 619. Glocuestershire batted for 194 overs to make 558 at ultra slow pace (our bowling isnt our strength). Managed to bowl them out 45 min before Tea.

Went in to bat, and at first said play the draw. At Tea, we were 0/32. Batted for four overs after tea, and declared to try and push for a win. Gave Gloucestershire 125 to get off 1 hr 31 min. Enter Harris and Nel, and the rest writes itself. Bowled them out in 18.4 overs, with 14 minutes remaining.

Just had to share. Was freakin psyched!!!!

Nice result... 35 all out for the opposition. Here's something my overseas spinner did in a FC match the other day. Awful performance for every bowler bar one. After he had 8, it was looking like a draw anyway, so I went for it...
