FIRST TEST REVIEW

Nope, that's not a typo, we just got spanked by Bangladesh. If there was ever a need for an immediate resign button, it'd be right now. I could make excuses and blame thee weather for our first innings collapse after being sent in to bat, but the truth is it shouldn't matter against teams like Bangladesh. We were absolutely insipid with bat and ball over most of the five days, I'm utterly embarrassed of the team right now.

If it is any consolation, they only drew the first test on mine, Bangladesh were 460-9 in the 2nd inns at the close, only 50ish short of winning.

I know it won't be any consolation, but in real life Bangladesh just bundled out South Africa for 248 in the first test and took a first innings lead of 78, before rain washed out play on days 4 and 5. They seem to be a much improved side these days.

SECOND TEST + SERIES REVIEWED

That was better overall. I really wanted to debut Sam Whiteman but decided against it in the end, not really sure why. Things got off to a slow and steady start, taking the better part of five sessions to end up at a total of 429. David Warner (103) and Steve Smith (77) provided excellent partners to the captain Michael Clarke had put up an unbeaten 130. Mitchell Starc decided he was going to be the man, and walked away with great figures of 5-66. Not much else to write home about here, aside from the left armer dominating not much happened.

Second innings now and it was once again David Warner that got us going with a much needed 113. Michael Clarke fell 2 balls before lunch on day four, and of course Shaun Marsh joined him back in the stands one ball later. Mitchell Marsh ended a poor tour with a fine 65 before we began bowling with three and a half sessions remaining. The last innings was odd. Nathan Lyon struck three times in the matter of three over, then it looked like they were going to cruise to a draw for a while. Needing just four (three with Shuvagata Hom's retirement in the first innings) we got it done with the new ball mid-way through the final session.

Overall, pretty bummed with how the series turned out. We should have cruised to a 2-0 win, instead we had poor performers just about everywhere and left too much to too few. I'll be looking to rectify that in my first home series next, hopefully we get some more bowler friendly wickets. Before that, we have to finish up here. On to the One day matches!

TOUR MATCH REVIEW + FIRST ODI NEWS

I can't wait to head home. This has just been the tour from hell, with a lack of decent spin options it's just been a lot tougher than it should be really. That One Day game was no different. We struggled to counter their 30 overs of spin and then had a greater struggle getting 20 overs out ourselves. Credit to James Faulkner on his return taking 4-40, and the other seamers for getting on top late but we didn't deserve to win that game. Mitchell Starc took two wickets in that over with Dhaka needing just three runs to win. Baffling to think we're going to perform on a bigger stage.

The issues are deep at the moment. Adam Zampa doesn't look up to it, but James Muirhead only has six One Day games to his name. Glenn Maxwell isn't offering any assistance either and I'm not sure what the plan is going to be for these games.

FIRST ODI + SECOND ODI NEWS

So after all the talk of spinning pitches, we get served up a pretty flat track in okay conditions with a reallllllllllllllly slow outfield. Runs were incredibly hard to come across in the first innings, which made the constant starts of our batsman who then got themselves out so frustrating. Four of our batsmen fell for between 49 and 40, quite annoying really. James Faulkner's second spell got us over the line in a truly terrific return to the side for him. His figures of 4-52 was the difference in the end, and although Nathan Coulter-Nile got on a roll late taking 4-25, without James Faulkner's work, those tail batsman are still waiting their turn.

Really want to try and slide Mitchell Johnson into this side for some extra firepower, it will depend on the next pitch however.
