Broad and Swann go to play against New Zealand, so Patel and Phillips come in. Franks is replaced by Fletcher as well.
Toss: Worcestershire win the toss and bowl first
Nottinghamshire Innings:
Well, that was unexpected. Taylor and Hales both failed to get starts, but that brought Ramshaw to the crease alongside McGregor. They smashed the Worcs attack all over the place. Ramshaw eventually fell just before the end, but Patel came in and got a few runs. A great batting performance.
Worcs Innings:
Worcs never really got going, as all the bowlers picked up wickets. Patel got a couple of wickets standing in for Swann, and Adams was once again consistent. Shahzad was also impressive, and a crushing win all-round.
Batting Award:
McGregor – a great unbeaten maiden OD century
Back to the CCD1 then, and with that, a change. Murray drops out, Cowan replacing him.
Toss:
Surrey win the toss and bat first.
Day 1:
Honours even on Day 1, Surrey finishing on 303-6. If Smith hadn’t have been dropped, we may have been better off, but a quick start on Day 2 would be nice.
Day 2:
We bowled Surrey out for 349, so we are even on points to start with. We bowled well, and Patel picked up the last wicket just before the next point was gained.
We failed to make our good start count as we collapsed to 253-9. Only Ramshaw made a decent start, and this game isn’t looking great for us.
Day 3:
After being bowled out for 280, Surrey made hay. They declared with 5 overs left leaving me 406 to win. We dropped De Bruyn twice, I’m seething. We saw the day out on 14-0.
Day 4: And again…. Only just though. Some good quick batting throughout the day from everyone, but special credit to Taylor and Read, who controlled the innings well. Also, to Ajmal Shahzad, whose 21 from 9 put us back in the match when we looked out of it. I suppose if you are going to win, do it with style!
Batting Award:
Ramshaw – not the highest score, but gave us a chance after a controlled first innings.
Bowling Award:
Phillips – his 3 wickets in the first innings came at key points of the match
Massive blow for us as James Taylor is out for a month. Michael Lumb returns as the obvious replacement, certainly in the shorter forms of the game.
Other than that, I’m keeping faith with the rest of my team.
Toss:
Warwickshire win the toss and bowl
Oh dear. We really didn’t play well. At least Hales and Ramshaw got runs. Credit to Warwickshire for making look easy, although having Chris Woakes batting at 3 was pushing it a little bit.
Batting Award:
Hales – slow at the start, but a good performance.
Bowling Award: Shahzad – at least he got some wickets
Squad News:
We take the chance in this match to rest players against some apparently weaker opposition. Carter, Gurney, Mullaney, Murray and Kelsall all play in this match, meaning that Hales and Adams amongst others can rest.
Toss:
Nottinghamshire win the toss and elect to bat.
Nottinghamshire Innings:
We batted well. Not quite as many runs as I’d have liked perhaps, but certainly batted well. Murray finally got a good OD score, and Ramshaw continued his good form. There were also runs for Patel and Mullaney as we set an imposing target.
Netherlands Innings:
The Netherlands never really looked in this. I feel a bit sorry for Carter who only got one over, but Mullaney and Gurney were bowling well enough that they got left on. Patel also picked up wickets, as we closed out a comfortable win, massively boosting our run-rate.
Batting Award:
Joseph Murray – good, quick scoring for his first OD half century
Bowling Award:
Mullaney – showed that he should play more often, taking 4 wickets
Adams, Hales, Shahzad all return for this, Mullaney keeps his place for this match.
Toss:
Nottinghamshire win the toss and bat first. No Day 4 batting drama for me this time.
Day 1:
We finished on 292-9, and definitely need to push for any extra bonus points we can. Cowan missed out on a century by 2 runs, but it was a good performance on a pitch that it looks very bowler friendly.
Day 2:
Sussex finished 5 behind on 292-6. We didn’t quite get the bonus point, but we started well with the bowling instead. The second session didn’t go to plan though, and Sussex got away from us, before some late wickets brought the game back a bit.
Day 3:
We finished the day 249 ahead thanks to some sensible batting from Hales, Ramshaw and Read.Hopefully we can get a decent lead by the end of the next session, so that we can have a crack at trying to win the match.
Day 4:
We declared on 424-8, both Ramshaw and Read getting good centuries. It meant that Sussex had to get 385 in two and a bit sessions.
Neither team really forced the issue, and although we took five wickets, they were too late to chase the win. A comfortable draw.
Batting Award:
T Ramshaw – Highest ever FC score
Bowling Award:
Fletcher – Bowled well in both innings, is starting to improve.
Day 1:
We smashed Yorkshire across the park as we reached 354 on day 1. We may have been all out, but we got points in quickly, and it gives us more time to have a go at the Yorkshire batsmen.
Day 2:
Gale and Rashid dominated as Yorks reached 335-4. They got lucky at times, and despite our good start, we are on the back foot yet again.
Day 3:
Having finally bowled Yorks out for 496, we got to 60-0. It was a rain affected day, and pretty much confirms that this match will definitely be going to a draw.
Day 4:
A bore draw in the end, and I’m fairly comfortable with it after some more poor bowling
Batting Award:
Cowan – scored well in both innings
Bowling Award:
Adams – took the most wickets, may have to have him open the bowling
Notts Innings:
Thanks to Lumb and McGregor, we posted a very competitive score. One of the better performances of the campaign so far, and we can look to avenge the earlier defeat by Warwickshire.
Warwickshire Innings:
Warwickshire never really got going, and some good wicket to wicket bowling by Phillips and Adams saw us win with ease. A comfortable victory for Nottinghamshire.
Batting Award:
M Lumb – aggressive scoring, looks to be regaining some form
Bowling Award:
B Phillips – tough choice, but he was slightly more economical
