  • It's taken 140 international innings

But he's finally got his first international hundred!

Does anyone else find that there are players who destroy first class cricket, but come to the international scene and just suck? There's a few players in real life, but it appears in this game that there's inverse correlation between fc quality and international quality.

Well hes certainly no mug with the bat. 40 and 36 are his averages in international cricket. Very respectable...I don't know why you feel he sucks.

I'm comparing it to his fc average

For a lot of players in real life, their first class stats are very representative of what their international stats will be.

        Mark Ramprakash comes to mind.

he may be a Ramprakash in batting but you should try him in bowling. He has bowled just 6 overs, but has taken 2 wickets.
            Waiting eagerly for ICC 2014.

Graeme Hick is another one. A superb and probably the best technically sound batsman in england but performed averagely in intl cricket

I think the point about the hundred is fair. Though I suppose it depends where he bats in OD stuff in particular.

Even so - a specialist batsman (other than those 34 balls in a list A game) taking 140 innings to get his first international hundred...well that's pretty tough.
Ian Harvey springs to mind (and maybe Bevan before him) though both were eventually ODI specialists and Harvey also bowled.
This guy might be a record holder for a specilist batsman getting a hundred after so many innings, IRL most panels of selectors would likely have dropped him by now (despite his average being ok-ish)

It's an issue I've raised before mind you.

The nervous 90's seem to take a lot of wickets in this game.

                Scritty
The continued lack of stats in ICC is not so much the elephant in the room - as the Brontosaurus in the bathtub.

Isn't his high FC average because Sri Lankan domestic cricket is a bit crap?

Sri Lankan domestic cricket isn't crap, it's actually a lot better then what should be expected of a country their size. However it certainly isn't at the level of the english, australian etc. domestic cricket. But, in ICC 2010 playing as Aus I've seen regulars in the English team average 50+ in the county scene yet struggle to average 30 in 20+ tests, yet they aren't dropped. Atm potential skill totally outweighs performance in terms of AI team selection.

In Sri Lanka I'm led to believe that it's harder to bat, hence most players have a pretty low FC average. Similarly in the West Indies. It's also why spinners in those countries have such low averages
