    5th ODI vs England

    ENG Innings
    299/8(50)K Pietersen 132, A Strauss 92
    J Oram 4-65 T Southee 2-25

    NZ Innings
    277(47) C McMillan 60, R Taylor 59
    A Flintoff 4-39, P Collingwood 3-48

    ENG win by 22 runs
    ENG win series 3-2

England won through an outstanding partnership between Pietersen and Strauss. They put together 224 runs in 33 overs for the 2nd wicket and in the end we were lucky to restrict them to under 300. We chased valiantly but it wasn't our day with Taylor, McMillan and Ryder all getting starts but all failing to score the match-winning hundred we needed. We put it all out there and I think 3-2 it a fair reflection of the 2 sides.

              1st Test vs West Indies

              NZ 1st Innings
              350 M Sinclair 113, J Ryder 65
              D Sammy 4-100, D Mohammed 3-80

              WI 1st Innings
              208 D Smith 80, D Ramdin 30no
              J Oram 3-52, I O'Brien 2-38

              NZ 2nd Innings
              315 J Franklin 93, T Southee 57
              D Mohammed 4-102, J Taylor 2-68

              WI 2nd Innings
              261 R Sarwan 126, D Smith 42
              D Vettori 3-45, T Southee 3-87

              NZ win by 196 runs

A strong first innings batting and bowling effort set up what was in the end a comfortable win. We were wobbling in our 2nd innings at 187/8 before a 120 run stand between Southee and Franklin for the 9th wicket put the game out of reach for the Windies. Positive signs from most of the boys with opening batsman, a back up seamer and a keeper still causing major headaches.

Our team for the 2nd test is the same after a good performance in the 1st test. With 3 batsman dominating in first class cricket ( Hay, Hiini and Robertson) we are developing some good depth with our middle order batters with Ryder, Taylor, Sinclair and McMillan having done a good job for us this year, having all hit a test century.

                P Fulton(c)
                M Bell
                R Taylor
                J Ryder
                M Sinclair
                J Oram
                B McCullum(wk)
                D Vettori
                J Franklin
                T Southee
                I O'Brien

                West Indies team is:

                C Gayle
                D Smith
                S Chanderpaul
                R Sarwan
                M Samuels
                D Bravo
                A Richards
                D Ramdin(wk)
                D Sammy
                D Mohammed
                C Collymore

                  NZ 1st Innings
                  222 J Oram 47, J Ryder 44
                  D Bravo 5-38, D Mohammed 4-74

                  WI 1st Innings
                  457 M Samuels 121, D Smith 58
                  D Vettori 5-98, T Southee 3-117

                  NZ 2nd Innings
                  342 M Sinclair 68, B McCullum 67
                  D Bravo 3-48, C Collymore 3-98

                  WI 2nd Innings
                  111/4 S Chanderpaul 34, R Sarwan 32no
                  J Franklin 3-39, T Southee 1-31

West Indies win by 4 wickets

A disapointing effort from the batsman 1st up has cost us the chance of a much needed series victory over the West Indies. Dwayne Bravo really turned it on with the ball to restrict us to a measly total. West Indies in reply showed us how it was done by scoring 457, leaving our chances of grabbing a win rather slim. Those chances were further decreased from another disappointing batting performance in the 2nd innings with bothe McCullum and Sinclair failing to make a series defining hundred. The West Indies then cruised to the 111 runs they required for victory. Test series has been drawn 1 all

We brought in a few new faces for the 3 match ODI series versus the West Indies with Aaron Redmond and Mark Gillespie added to the squad. We are looking for an opener to partner Peter Fulton and Aaron Redmond has been in good one day form so far this season. Gillespie is just making up the numbers and may come in to the starting XI if other bowlers form falters.

                    P Fulton
                    A Redmond
                    J How
                    R Taylor
                    J Ryder
                    M Sinclair
                    C McMillan
                    J Oram
                    B McCullum

                        1st ODI vs West Indies

                        WI Innings
                        233/8(50) C Gayle 120no, D Smith 37
                        I O'Brien 2-43, T Southee 2-45

                        NZ Innings
                        189(48.3) J Oram 51, C McMillan 36
                        D Mohammed 4-43, D Bravo 3-43

West Indies win by 44 runs

Chris Gayle was the difference between the 2 sides as he played a fantastic knock to guide his side to a reasonable total in tough batting conditions. In reply we never got our run-rate high enough before a slight collapse at the end put the game beyond doubt. Mohammed is bowling exceptionally well on this tour and looks a real gem for the Windies

I resisted the urge to make any changes to the side while the West Indies included Jerome Taylor instead of Ian Bradshaw. With 2 must win games coming up we must step up our game in order to get a much needed series victory.

                            West Indies Innings
                            217/9(50) R Sarwan 80, S Chanderpaul 58
                            T Southee 4-53, J Oram 3-39

                            NZ Innings
                            218/4(48.3) C McMillan 71no, P Fulton 57
                            D Mohammed 2-46, D Bravo 1-42

                            NZ win by 6 wickets

A good performance under pressure has secured victory, with McMillan stepping up at a crucial moment in the match to hit 71no off 52 balls. We are struggling to contain the Windies 3 star batsmen with Sarwan, Gayle and Chanderpaul having all been successful this series. We must contain those 3 if we are any chance in the decider.

The West Indies made 2 changes to their team for the 3rd and final game of the series with Daren Ganga coming in for Marlon Samuels and Rayad Emrit replacing Dave Mohammed. We kept the same lineup for the 3rd match in a row.
