      Australia Squad for 1st Test

Australia have named Nathan Hauritz in their squad for the first Test against Bangladesh he is likely to have to settle for a place on the sidelines at least for the first test but may play as Lee is out with an Injury. If Australia decide to play four front line fast bowlers it is likely Stuart Clark will be used despite his poor performance against the West Indies. Matthew Hayden misses out to Phil Jaques who was in superb form against the West Indies.
      1.Simon Katich
      2.Phil Jaques
      3.Ricky Ponting
      4.Michael Hussey
      5.Michael Clarke
      6.Shane Watson
      7.Brad Haddin
      8.Mitchell Johnson
      9.Peter Siddle
      10.Ben Hilfenhaus
      11.Stuart Clark
      12.Nathan Hauritz

        Haddin Injury

an injury to Brad Haddin means that 29 year old Ghraham Manou will come into the team in the wicket keepers slot this is a big blow for the Australians but they should still prove too strong for Bangladesh.

          Australia vs Bangladesh 1st test

Australia have decided to play Stuart Clark instead of Nathan Hauritz and he will be wanting to grab this opportunity with both hands after his poor showing in the Caribbean Hauritz may get a chance in the second test if the selectors deem it to be a track suited to the spinners.
          1.Phil Jaques
          2.Simon Katich
          3.Ricky Ponting
          4.Michael Hussey
          5.Michael Clarke
          6.Shane Watson
          7.Graham Manou* (wkt)
          8.Mitchell Johnson
          9.Peter Siddle
          10.Stuart Clark
          11.Ben Hilfenhaus

          Bangladesh Squad
          1.M.Hossain
          2.J.Omar
          3.T.Iqbal
          4.R.Saleh
          5.A.Kapali
          6.F.Reza
          7.K.Mashud
          8.M.Sharif
          9.S.Islam
          10.S.Rasel
          11.S.Hossain
The only surprise in the Bangladeshi line up is the lack of a spin bowler though Kapali may be called upon to bowl some overs.

            Australia vs Bangladesh 1st test

Australia elected to bat but suffered an early setback as Jaques fell for 6 but Ponting and Katich saw off the new ball without alarm before the latter fell LBW for 31 and anothe reasonable partnership formed between Hussey and Ponting but again unable to push on from a start Hussey fell for 33, Ponting continued unperterbed to post his 50 but anopther partner fell this time Clarke edging behind for 16. Watson who has been struggling for form recently fell for a paltry 8 and it looked as though Bangladesh would be able to extracate Australia for under 200 and when Ponting fell for 73 Bangladesh were well in the ascendancy. Graham Manou after looking solid on debut was run out for 17 as Bangladesh looked to close out the Australian innings Siddle was dropped on 1 and again on 20 as he played an aggressive knock of 25 to help lift Australia to 247 Sharif and Kapali proved to be the best bowlers taking 3 wickets each.
Australia needed a good start and Hilfenhaus playing his first test on home soil got the early breakthrough with Mehrab Hossain edging to second slip, Johnson then removed Iqbal for 23 as the Australians made good use of the new ball and with Omar beaten by a sublime yorker Bangladesh were teetering on 3-52 and as they teeterd Ben Hilfenhaus took two wickets to all but push them off. Siddle and Clark were however unable to capitalise and they allowed Bangladesh back into the match with Saleh and Mashud taking them from 5-63 to 6-225 just 22 runs behind Australia Mashud fell one run short of his hundred when Hilfenhaus swung one back into him with the old ball, Clark then removed Saleh for 80 and bowled Sajidul Islam first ball and it then looked as though it would be honors even as Australia began their second innings Siddle mopped up the tail quickly and Bangladesh ended with a lead of 24.
Jaques made it two failures in the match as he fell for 4 but both Katich and Ponting looked in good touch but Sajidul Islam produced a jaffer to bowl Ponting for 29 and then Hussey went caught at leg slip trying to turn the ball around the corner and Bangladesh sensed their chance but Katich and Clarke made 90 to improve Australia's chances, Clarke falling LBW to the impressive Islam for 48, once again the Bangladeshi's were circling and when Katich was run out and a nervous looking Watson followed soon after it seemed as though they were on the cusp of an unprecedented victory they removed Manou for 11 yet again and looked certain winners when Sharif had Siddle LBW for 2 and Clark was caught for 0 first ball Hilfenhas survived the hat-trick ball looked to give themselves something to bowl at but Hilfenhaus was out for 13 Johnson finishing unbeaten on 34 and Bangladesh needed just 210 to win. Sharif had mopped up the tail well to finish with 4-56 but the main damage was done by Sajidul who took 4-64 and remoed numbers 3-6.
Bangladesh were looking for a better start but Omar went to Johnson for 3 and when Hossain fell for 11 Australia sniffed a chance but Tamim Iqbal (94no) batted well negotiating the early movement and looked solid and he and Rajin Saleh (99no)saw bangladesh home with a 173 run Partnership and Australia were left humbled and in severe need of improvement for the second test.

Shane Watson and Stuart Clark have found themselves dropped for the second test against Bangladesh with Matthew Hayden and Brad Hodge replacing them this chande should mean that Nathan Hauritz will play his second test 4 years after his first, hodge will most likely slot into number six with Hayden and Jaques fighting for the second opening slot but it is doubtful Australia will drop Jaques after just one poor game.

Bangladesh are unsurprisingly unchanged and for Australia as expected Brad Hodge and Nathan Hauritz come in.

Australia suffered yet another set back after electing to bat on a flat pitch with Phil Jaques out for a duck completing his third failiure and making much more likely the return of Matthew Hayden. Ponting and Katich yet again had to begin the rebuilding task but yet again after settling in to a good partnership one got out this time Ponting mistiming a drive and going for 39, Katich however marched on and posted 50 but he again fell after getting a start this time making 64. Hussey and Clarke saw Australia to tea on 181-3 and Hussey brought his 50 up after the break but he edged behind for 70 Clarke was then run out after looking in good touch in his 53 and still the Australians couldn't make a hundred. Hodge batted well with the tail after bedding himself in he made the first Australian century of the series ably supported by Hauritz (49), he was able to take Australia to 482 all out making 149no to ensure his place on the tour to India.
With for the first time in the series a decent total behind them the good start by the Australian bowlers was able to put real pressure on the Bangladeshi's but they were unable to take more than 1 wicket and Hossain and Iqbal; but on 95. Siddle bowled a superb spell without reward while johnson took all the three top order wickets. Nathan Hauritz showed good control and he and Hilfenhaus and then Clarke tied Bangladesh down well but none of these got rewards and Bangladesh were fighting well the introduction of another part time spinner in Katich finally got Australia the Breakthrough of Kapali for 53 after he and Saleh put on 110 Siddle then finally had some luck getting Reza to miscue a drive and hole out. Australia then took the new ball and began to initiate a collapse with Hilfenhaus snaring Mashud for 8 and when Saleh was run out for 68 Australia had an opening but the lower order did ell to avoid the follow on but Johnson quickly finished the innings after that and had figures of 6-94
Australia had a tricky hout to face and Jaques needed a score but he was run out for one and it looks as though Hayden has one last chance to open for Australia, Ponting and Clarke began the Australian fightback yet again with a partnership of 70 but after Hussey went for 0 it was yet again honors even but Ponting completed a chanceless and aggressive 118 to give Australia a good chance to declare and have 4 sessions to bowl at Bangladesh. After Ponting's wicket Hodge accelerated to make 88no off 124 balls and Australia declared with Bangladesh needing a gettable 457 in four sessions but they will have to bad amazingly well just to save this game let alone win it.
Bangladesh posted a good 1st wicket partnership of 50 to give them a chance but Peter Siddle took 2 wickets in his opening spell to pur Australia in a commanding position, but Bangladesh did well to end the day on 99 for 2 with all results still a possibility. On the morning of the 5th day Bangladesh started poorly losing Mehrab Hossain for 38 and when Hauritz came back on and removed Kapali in his first over of the day Australia were firmly on top with now only a draw and an Australian win possible Bangladesh still looked to fight hard when Hauritz had Reza caught and bowled for 28 Bangladesh had to last 2 sessions without losing 5 wickets to secure the draw and when Saleh was out in the next over to Siddle the result was sealed. When the new ball was taken it seemed to remove any slender hopes held by Bangladesh as it seamed and swung with Johnson repeatedly beating the batsmen Mashud fought well to make his 50 Siddle had him LBW for only a couple more and now Australia needed just 2 wickets to win in nearly 2 hours. Australia wrapped up the game with 46 minutes to spare Siddle and Hauritz realy impressing with the ball and Hodge was able to sure up the batting well.
