One Day Cup: Nottinghamshire vs Hampshire (Nottingham)
    Nottinghamshire:
Hameed, Slater, Denny, Mullaney, Montgomery, James, Schadendorf, Patterson-White, Hutton, Hayes, Johnson
Hampshire: Gubbins*, Donald, Prest, Albert, Brown+, Holland, Organ, Barker, Currie, Turner, Campbell
Nottinghamshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

Hampshire make one change as Holland returns from injury, coming straight in for Goodis.

    Notts: 339-9 (50) - Slater 104, Hameed 69, Mullaney 62*; Gubbins 5-41, Currie 3-63
Notts raced out of the blocks, the openers scoring an eight an over and adding a brilliant stand of 129, before Currie had Hameed lbw to break the partnership. Runs continued to flow though with Denny scoring quickly until he was bowled by Campbell. But then a stunning spell from part-time leggie Gubbins saw him take an astonishing five wickets, including Slater, as he tore through the middle order and finishing with a first List A five-wicket haul. A brutal 39 from Hutton helped Notts pass 300, but Currie finished well with two wickets in the final over, conceding nine.

    Hants: 333-7 (50) - Donald 77, Prest 74; Patterson-White 3-74
The openers started quickly until Gubbins fell to Hutton, but Donald and Prest added 107 for the second wicket, both playing beautifully. When Donald fell, Albert took the reins, and even when Prest was caught, Hampshire were up with the rate and the middle order had a good platform. Brown scored at more than a run a ball, but he and Albert both fell within ten minutes of each other, and Holland was bowled by Mullaney after hitting his first four balls for 14. Organ struggled to 10 from 23 before he was caught, but Barker was getting Hampshire close with an excellent 40* from 30. But Hampshire needed 13 from the final over, and could only muster six, falling agonisingly short. It seems as though Organ's innings may have been costly at a vital time.

    Nottinghamshire won by 6 runs

One Day Cup: Hampshire vs Leicestershire (Southampton)
      Hampshire:
Gubbins*, Donald, Prest, Albert, Brown+, Holland, Organ, Barker, Currie, Turner, Campbell
Leicestershire: Patel, Rahane, Kimber, Melly, Ackermann, Mulder, Hill, Budinger, Steel, Barnes, Hull
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

Hampshire are unchanged as they host Leicestershire, who have won three out of four games so far.

      Hants: 276 (46.1) - Holland 80, Albert 58, Prest 55; Steel 4-48, Barnes 3-73
Hampshire weren't fluent to begin with, and Hull was rewarded for some tight bowling with the wicket of Gubbins. Donald fell for a scratchy 18, but Prest and Albert both reached fifty, Prest for the third time in four innings in this competition. But when they both fell, along with Brown, Hampshire were 162-5 and potentially in a bit of trouble. But Holland and Organ steadied the ship, adding 75 together, before the latter was caught behind off Barnes. Holland put his foot down, particularly punishing Ackermann and Steel, but three wickets in an over from Steel, including the wicket of Holland put Leicestershire in control, and when Barker was caught from the first ball of his next, Hampshire were all out for 276, but they'd have hoped for more when Prest and Albert were playing well.

      Leics: 277-6 (46.3) - Hill 69*, Melly 53, Mulder 50; Campbell 2-45
Turner would have been delighted to remove Rahane in his third over, and Barker had Kimber caught behind in the next to get Hampshire off to a good start. But Patel and Melly were playing nicely, both in the 40s at this point. Golden-arm Gubbins brought himself into the attack, and struck with his first ball again as he had Patel lbw. Campbell then returned to remove Melly and Ackermann, Hampshire probably just about on top at this point. Mulder and Hill kept up with the rate, and when Organ's only over went for 22, Leicestershire were in control. Turner had Mulder caught behind with 17 needed, but Hill hit a six off Currie to see Leicestershire home, a well-timed run chase to keep them top of the group.

      Leicestershire won by 4 wickets

One Day Cup: Lancashire vs Hampshire (Manchester)
        Lancashire:
Jennings, Wells, Croft, Bohannon, Vilas, Jones, de Grandhomme, Balderson, Lamb, Williams, Anderson
Hampshire: Gubbins*, Donald, Prest, Albert, Brown+, Goodis, Holland, Barker, Currie, Turner, Campbell
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Goodis replaces Organ as Hampshire face Lancashire, who have had a decent start and are in 4th.

        Lancs: 256-8 (50) - Vilas 76; Campbell 4-50, Turner 2-69
The opening bowlers were on form and started brilliantly, the hosts finding themselves 28-2 after ten overs with both openers gone. A partnership of 70 between Croft and Bohannon restored some respectability, but Campbell removed Croft before Bohannon fell shortly after to Holland. Campbell took a further three wickets as Lancashire looked to accelerate, but a good finish from Vilas and Lamb dragged them to 256, a seemingly below-par effort from the hosts.

        Hants: 258-3 (37) - Prest 91*, Gubbins 51, Brown 43*
Hampshire's opening partnership of 47 laid a decent foundation for the middle order, and with contributions from everyone, it was an easy win. Gubbins fell soon after passing fifty, but the in-form Prest reached yet another fifty, passing his highest score of the season as he reached a brilliant 91* from 82. Brown added 43* from just 31 as Hampshire romped home with thirteen overs to spare.

        Hampshire won by 7 wickets

One Day Cup: Yorkshire vs Hampshire (Leeds)
          Yorkshire:
Hope, Masood, Luxton, Cowe, Tattersall, Stevens, Hill, Fraine, Mike, Bess, Coad
Hampshire: Gubbins*, Donald, Prest, Albert, Brown+, Goodis, Holland, Barker, Currie, Turner, Campbell
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Hampshire are unchanged again for a mid-table clash with Yorkshire, who include former Kent all-rounder Stevens in their lineup.

          Yorks: 275 (47.3) - Hope 98; Holland 4-49, Currie 3-45
After an opening stand of 75, Hampshire took regular wickets, but Hope was playing nicely despite losing wickets around him. He made his way to 98, most notably supported by Tattersall's 45 from 32, but when he fell, the lower order collapsed as the hosts lost five wickets for just 36 runs, but the last pair added 35 to get Yorkshire to a respectable total.

          Hants: 279-5 (46) - Donald 132, Albert 71; Bess 3-73
The opening pair got Hampshire off to an excellent start after beginning slowly against Coad and Stevens, but they attacked the change bowlers until Gubbins was bowled for 44. Bess then got Prest cheaply, but Albert and Donald added 128 for the third wicket to put the game out of doubt, the latter hitting a second hundred in the competition, and the former passing fifty for the second time. Both would have been disappointed to fall before the end, especially Donald, who was caught with just two needed to win. Goodis would have hoped to hit the winning runs to give himself some confidence, but he was caught and bowled by Bess with the scores level. But Holland hit the winning runs with a boundary to put Hampshire in a good position to push for qualification.

          Hampshire won by 5 wickets

One Day Cup: Surrey vs Hampshire (South London)
            Surrey:
Head, Sibley, Patel, Foakes, Burns, Lawes, Reifer, Scott, Worrall, Virdi, Moriarty
Hampshire: Gubbins*, Donald, Prest, Albert, Brown+, Holland, Organ, Barker, Currie, Turner, Campbell
Surrey won the toss and elected to bat first.

Hampshire make one change - Organ comes back in for Goodis on a dry pitch.

            Surrey: 255 (45.3) - Patel 69, Foakes 69; Gubbins 5-48, Turner 2-30
Again, Hampshire started well with the ball, Turner making an early breakthrough, but Surrey's top three played well and at one stage they were 161-2 and looking good. But Gubbins brought himself into the attack and again took a wicket in his first over. After Organ bowled Burns, it was the Gubbins show as he removed Foakes. Then, unbelievably, he bowled Reifer and Scott in the next two deliveries to complete a remarkable hat-trick. Organ saw off Worrall and Gubbins took his fifth (a second five-wicket haul in the competition), before Turner castled Moriarty to bowl Surrey out for 255.

            Hants: 259-8 (49.4) - Donald 76, Prest 55; Scott 3-44, Lawes 2-38
Such was the success of Hampshire's spinners that Surrey opted to open with spin from both ends, and it paid off as Gubbins fell to Virdi in the third over. But a century partnership between Hampshire's in-form batters, Donald and Prest, set the foundation for Hampshire as they both passed fifty again. Worrall took particular treatment from the pair as his ten overs cost 92 runs, whereas everyone else went at less than five. Albert also contributed a run-a-ball 36, but Hampshire started to lose regular wickets, and at 205-6, would have been concerned. But Organ and Barker played nicely, until the former fell for 29. Virdi then removed Currie to make things tense, but with just three needed from the final over, two singles were taken and then Barker hit Scott for four to seal another win for Hampshire, moving them into the top three.

            Hampshire won by 2 wickets

One Day Cup: Hampshire vs Kent (Southampton)
              Hampshire:
Gubbins*, Donald, Prest, Albert, Brown+, Holland, Organ, Barker, Currie, Abbott, Turner
Kent: Ramshaw, Compton, Denly, Evison, Leaning, Blake, Stewart, Linde, Allenby, Logan, Singh
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

Hampshire host Kent in the final group game and the equation is simple: win and they qualify for the knockout stages; lose and they will have to rely on other results. Abbott is back from his injury and comes in for Campbell.

              Hants: 259-9 (50) - Organ 41; Singh 3-37, Logan 2-44
It was an innings of frustration for Hampshire, as everyone in the top eight reached double figures, but only Organ managed to pass 40. Kent took regular wickets throughout as Hampshire limped to a below-par 259 from their 50 overs. They would need to bowl well to ensure qualification for the knockouts.

              Kent: 260-3 (39) - Denly 76*, Compton 66, Evison 53, Ramshaw 52
In truth, Kent never looked back. The openers added 100 but Hampshire couldn't take regular wickets throughout. Despite a wicket each for Currie, Organ, and Gubbins, Evison struck 53 from 32 and Denly 76* from 64 to seal an easy win for Kent, one that confirms their playoff place at the expense of Hampshire, who dropped down to fifth to finish the group.

                One Day Cup Review
Hampshire were inconsistent throughout the competition, leading to their eventual 5th place finish, but they would have been delighted with some of the performances of their younger batters. Their bowling, at times, was impressive, but generally failed to live up to expectations with some of their stronger bowlers away at the Hundred. However, it was an encouraging campaign with signs of promise for the future, and one that they will hope to be able to build upon next season.

Leicestershire and Glamorgan progress straight to the semi-final after topping their respective groups, whilst Kent will face Gloucestershire and Durham play Essex in the two playoffs.

County Championship: Hampshire vs Somerset (Southampton)
Hampshire: Weatherley, Holland, Gubbins*, Prest, Brown+, Dawson, Donald, Barker, Abbott, Crane, Abbas
Somerset: Lammonby, Dickson, Abell, Bartlett, Kohler-Cadmore, Goldsworthy, Gregory, Overton, Davey, Henry, McAllister
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Hampshire make four changes from their last Championship side: Holland, Brown, Abbott, and Crane come in for Organ, Vince, Fuller, and Turner. Vince is on T20 duty with England, so Gubbins remains as captain.

                  Somerset 1st: 216 (80.1) - Gregory 63, Kohler-Cadmore 50; Abbott 5-57
Gubbins' decision at the toss was vindicated as Hampshire took regular wickets, restricting Somerset to a slightly below-par score in the first innings. Abbott was the standout with a first five-wicket haul of the season.

                  Hants 1st: 224 (86.5) - Weatherley 41; Henry 5-72
Regular wickets for Somerset's five-pronged seam attack had Hampshire in a bit of a hole at 127-7, but the final three wickets added 97 between them to give Hampshire a slender lead of eight runs. Special mention to Abbott and Crane who survived 201 balls between them (Crane 100 unbeaten) to allow themselves the opportunity to create a lead.

                  Somerset 2nd: 188 (77.2) - Goldsworthy 50*, Bartlett 50; Barker 7-39
Another good performance with the ball. Barker was exceptional with seven wickets, as Hampshire never let Somerset have control, at one point the hosts losing four wickets for ten runs as their middle order faltered.

                  Hants 2nd: 111 (52.3) - Weatherley 38; McAllister 4-34, Overton 2-16
Chasing 181 to win, Hampshire could only muster a meagre 111. From 22-2, the situation never improved as the middle and lower order collapsed with no response to the Somerset attack, as Hampshire fell well short. They will now have serious concerns about relegation, only being 25 points above the bottom two, but having played a game more.

                  Somerset won by 69 runs

County Championship: Essex vs Hampshire (Chelmsford)
                    Essex:
A Cook, Browne, Westley, Lawrence, Pettifer, Walter, Critchley, Snater, Harmer, S Cook, Porter
Hampshire: Weatherley, Holland, Gubbins*, Prest, Brown+, Donald, Dawson, Barker, Fuller, Abbott, Abbas
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

Hampshire make one change against 3rd-placed Essex as Fuller replaces Crane. Hampshire need to find some form soon in order to avoid relegation.

                    Hants 1st: 349 (108.5) - Barker 127*, Gubbins 51; Harmer 4-107, Porter 3-72
Hampshire were looking at another poor first-innings score at 218-8, but a vital partnership between Barker and Abbott, dominated by the former, took Hampshire past 300. When Abbott fell, Barker accelerated and reached a magnificent hundred in the situation, addressing his demons after being dismissed for 99 earlier in the season. Hampshire were close to three batting points but Abbas was bowled by Cook just one run away, but a decent effort in the end from the visitors, with Barker achieving a career best score.

                    Essex 1st: 270 (87.1) - A Cook 120, Snater 60*, Pettifer 54; Barker 4-73, Abbas 3-58
Essex collapsed to 14-3, but a good partnership between Cook and Pettifer took them to 160 before the keeper fell. Barker continued his good form with bat and ball, taking four wickets, and Abbas took three as they returned with the new ball, Hampshire with a good lead of 79.

                    Hants 2nd: 304-8d (85.5) - Weatherley 130, Gubbins 73; Cook 3-71, Porter 3-71
The standout partnership was that of 164 between Weatherley and Gubbins, with the former recording his third First Class century. Cameos from Prest and Brown put Hampshire in a position where they could declare shortly before the end of the day, meaning they'd have 102 overs to try and bowl Essex out.

                    Essex 2nd: 257-6 (102) - Browne 52; Dawson 4-81, Barker 2-71
After Barker dismissed Cook early, wickets were hard to come by for Hampshire. Dawson was threatening as he took four wickets, but time was quickly running out, and a valuable 18* off 102 from Walter, along with Westley's 47 from 171, helped use up overs and see Essex through to the close, Hampshire disappointed to not be able to take all ten wickets in 102 overs. The result leaves Hampshire 12 points above Northants in 9th with Notts winning. Kent are already relegated, but Hampshire will have a close eye on Northants' game.

                    Match drawn
                    Pts: Essex 9, Hants 10

County Championship: Hampshire vs Surrey (Southampton)
                      Hampshire:
Weatherley, Holland, Gubbins*, Prest, Brown+, Donald, Dawson, Barker, Fuller, Abbott, Abbas
Surrey: Sibley, Burns, Smith, Pope, Foakes, Patel, Steel, Abbott, Virdi, Moriarty, Topley
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

Hampshire are unchanged in the final game of the season with Vince still away, needing to at least equal Northants' result against Essex to avoid relegation. It's safe to say they'll be wishing they were playing someone other than Surrey, who are going for the title.

                      Hants 1st: 421 (104.2) - Weatherley 114, Gubbins 78, Holland 55, Brown 53; Abbott 4-123, Topley 3-88
Hampshire were indebted to their opening partnership, who settled any early nerves with a stand of 113, and Gubbins combined with Weatherley to add a further 126 together. Weatherley completed a second consecutive century, with a fifty from Brown and 32 from Dawson pushing Hampshire above 400 to set a good first-innings score. However, they would have been concerned to see that Northants had skittled Essex for 123, only two runs behind in their first innings with five wickets still in hand.

                      Surrey 1st: 197 (70.2) - Pope 63; Abbott 3-37, Fuller 3-43
A good bowling performance from Hampshire who took regular wickets throughout, not allowing anyone, with the exception of Pope, to settle. The wickets were shared around with three each for Abbott and Fuller, and two each for Abbas and Dawson. Some more encouraging signs from Northampton: Northants were dismissed for 181 and Essex are currently 110-3 in response, leading by 52. Hampshire chose to enforce the follow-on with cloudy conditions forecast in the first half of Day 3.

                      Surrey 2nd: 100 (55.2) - Pope 42; Barker 5-28
Barker and Abbas started brilliantly. Two wickets had fallen before the end of Day 2, and in the morning, at one point Surrey were 26-3 after 26 overs. Wickets continued to tumble for all four main seamers as Hampshire clicked at the right time, a vital win as Northants had beaten Essex by 1 wicket in what proved to be too little, too late. Hampshire end up finishing 7th, as Kent and Northants were relegated and Warwickshire confirmed County Champions.

Hampshire won by an innings and 124 runs
                      Pts: Hants 23, Surrey 3
                      MOTM: Joe Weatherley

                        County Championship Review
Hampshire would have been disappointed to have been in a relegation fight on the final day, but relieved to have secured Division One status for next season, and having formed a platform to build upon. They started the season well, but fell away towards the middle of the season, before they secured survival with a vital win over Surrey, finishing on 150 points.

Warwickshire were confirmed as Champions with 218 points, whilst Northamptonshire (134) and Kent (73) were relegated from Division One. Leicestershire (233) and Sussex (200) will be joining Division One in their place next season.

                            2024 CONTRACTS
Hampshire were hit with the news that 2023 player of the year Keith Barker has announced his retirement effective immediately.

Toby Albert, Ian Holland, Scott Currie, Jack Campbell, and John Turner all signed new two-year contracts with the club.

Brad Wheal and Harry Petrie were both released, with Wheal's wage demands significantly higher than expected. Youth prospects Andrew Goodis and Adam Roberts were not offered professional contracts.
Hampshire also opted to not re-sign any of their overseas players for the 2024 season.

Brad Wheal and Kyle Abbott joined Lancashire. Mohammad Abbas signed for Surrey. Youth pair Adam Roberts and Andrew Goodis both signed for Sussex.

Hampshire sign Mark Stoneman on one-year deal
Hampshire have confirmed the signing of opening batter Mark Stoneman from Middlesex on a one-year deal. The 36-year-old, who has 11 Test caps, previously had spells at Durham, Surrey, and briefly at Yorkshire. He has scored nearly 14,000 First Class runs in 236 matches at an average of 35.14, and over 3,000 List A runs at an average of just below 37. His 70 fifties and 31 centuries in First Class cricket will prove beneficial for Hampshire at the top of the order.

David Bedingham joins Hampshire as overseas
Hampshire have announced the signing of South African wicketkeeper-batsman David Bedingham as their overseas player for the 2024 season. The 29-year-old has over 5,000 runs in 80 First Class appearances at an average of 47.73, with 23 fifties and 14 centuries. The batter scored 888 runs for Durham last season, and is sure to add class to Hampshire's middle order.

                            Hampshire confirm Matt Critchley deal
Hampshire have secured the signing of all-rounder Matt Critchley from Essex on a three-year deal. The 27-year-old has over 6000 runs and 240 wickets in his career so far, and will add depth and power to Hampshire's squad, perhaps as a replacement for Liam Dawson who had a poor 2023.

Pat Cummins in sensational Hampshire capture
Hampshire have announced the sensational signing of Australian Test captain Pat Cummins as an overseas player for the 2024 season. The 30-year-old has over 300 wickets in international cricket and will look to be a key member of Hampshire's new-look bowling attack in 2024.

                            Jordan Clark switches to Hampshire
Jordan Clark has left Surrey to join Hampshire on a two-year contract. The hard-hitting 32-year-old all-rounder has over 4500 runs and 250 wickets in his career so far, and will add depth to Hampshire's squad in all formats.

                            Peter Hatzoglou joins Hampshire
Hampshire have confirmed the signing of young Australian leg-spinner Peter Hatzoglou for the T20 Blast. He has taken 46 wickets in 44 T20s so far in his career, mainly in the Big Bash but including a spell at Glamorgan last year. The signing of the 24-year-old has been met with excitement by Hampshire fans, who look forward to watching him bowl under lights.

                            Adam Finch signs for Hampshire
Hampshire have confirmed the signing of Worcestershire seam bowler Adam Finch on a one-year deal. The 23-year-old has taken 56 wickets in 39 First Team appearances for Surrey and Worcestershire in his short career so far.

                              2024 SEASON
Hampshire look forward to another season as they attempt to look towards the future. They have lost (for various reasons) their main three seamers in the Championship, but having signed a number of younger players, they appear to be moving forward. No new players have been given Hundred contracts, so Hampshire will be without the same players as last year during the One Day Cup. James Vince has been awarded an incremental contract by England.

                              Squad:
Batters: Toby Albert, Nick Gubbins, Fletcha Middleton, Tom Prest, Mark Stoneman, James Vince (Captain), Joe Weatherley, Ross Whiteley (white-ball)
Wicketkeepers: David Bedingham (overseas), Ben Brown, Aneurin Donald, Charlie Mumford
All-Rounders: Jordan Clark, Matt Critchley, Liam Dawson, James Fuller, Ian Holland, Benny Howell (white-ball), Dom Kelly
Bowlers: Jack Campbell, Mason Crane, Pat Cummins (overseas), Scott Currie, Adam Finch, Peter Hatzoglou (overseas, T20 only), John Turner, Chris Wood

Hampshire won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Stoneman, Bedingham, Clark, and Cummins all make their first appearances for Hampshire. Fuller is unlucky to miss out with a minor injury.

A disappointing start to the season, underlined by a toothless performance with the ball after choosing to bowl, and an early collapse with the bat. We bowled better second time around, but ultimately left ourselves too much to do in the fourth innings.
