  • Lancashire County Cricket Club - The revival

After the clubs dismal return to Division 1, Lancashire decided to reshuffle the board, and I was in fact appointed as coach. Lets see what we can do here!

The squad as always is pretty decent, is it good enough to return us to Division 1?

    The LCCC Squad

    Openers
    Paul Horton
    Stephen Moore
    Karl Brown
    Luis Reece (All Rounder)
    Luke Proctor (All Rounder)
    Tom Smith (All Rounder)

I reckon we can find a good partnership in there!

    Batsmen
    Andrea Agathangelou
    Steve Croft
    Simon Katich
    Ashwell Prince
    Liam Livingstone

We have strength in there, but may need to recruit in future.

    Keepers
    Jordan Clark (Keeper/Batsman)
    Gareth Cross
    Alex Davies

Cross will be the reliable glove-man (He's not at Lancs any more though :P). Clark and Davies will get their chance.

    All Rounders
    Kyle Hogg
    Arron Lilley
    Wayne White

Hogg will be a key man for us whilst the others may get a look in

    Seamers
    Kabir Ali
    James Anderson
    Glen Chapple
    Oliver Newby
    Mitch McClenaghan (T20)
    Gavin Griffiths
    Tom Bailey

Too many seamers who are surplus, this is a problem!

    Spinners
    Stephen Parry
    Simon Kerrigan

Kerrigan leads the battle for the First Class and List-A games for now at least.

So there's the squad, lets move onto the transfers

    Transfers In
Matthew Lineker - 28, LHB, SLA

Matthew Lineker is signed with a FC average of only 19, as an opener. However his price was about 40k, so I assumed he may be better than his average on this game, we will see!

So the objective for the season is top 4 in the County Championship Division 2!

In the 40 over game, we will be aiming to win a few, as I'm useless at 40 overs.

In the T20 I'm expecting some joy!

So first up, we take on Worcestershire in the County Championship. We're playing at Old Trafford with a seaming deck, hoping to utilise Jimmy and Co.

    Game 1 - Worcestershire (CCD2) Home

We play a balanced side with a batting line up that could go either way, we have enough bowlers!

Lancashire XI: Horton, Lineker, Katich, Prince, Proctor, Smith, Cross, Hogg, Ali, Anderson, Kerrigan.

Worcestershire XI: Mitchell, Pardoe, Samaraweera, Ali, Kervezee, Johnson, Andrew, Lucas, Jones, Shantry, Richardson.

I feel that if we bowl well we can get through their top heavy line up!
