Powerplay?

Can anybody give an explanation on when and the whys of using batting and powerplay in the game? No idea how to utilise it for any advantage

I use it as soon as the opposition moves the third person out of the boundary for any of my batsman. I find if I leave it until late it the innings I lose a wicket straight away or I collapse and it is no good to me. So by using it early it gives a chance for my settled batsman to pick some more gaps.

If my openers or top 3 or 4 are making a big score at a good run rate, i take it as early as i can!
Otherwise, i usually leave it till it pops up automatically!
