  • England Record Breakers Story

In this story 'im going to try and break nearly all individual records in Test Cricket with my England team.

    Current Test Records:

    Most Centurys by one batsman:

    World Record: Sachin Tendulkar: 51

England: Wally Hammond, Geoff Boycott and Colin Cowdrey all with 22

    Most career runs:

World Record: Sachin Tendulkar 14738 (according to wikipedia)

    England: Graham Gooch 8900

Highest Career Average (more than 20 innings):

World Record: 99.94 Don Bradman (this is going to be a toughy)

England: Trott already averages more than anyone else according to the game so i already broke it!

    Highest innings total:

    World:Brian Lara 400*

    England: Len Hutton 364

    Bowling Records:

    Most Test wickets:

    World: Murali 800

    England: Botham 383

    Most 5 wickets innings:

    World: Murali 67 (another toughie)

I dont know englands if any know it would be appreciated if you told me need to break some more Records.

    Most 10 Wickets in match:

    World: Murali 22

England: As far as i know its Sydney Burns with 7

    Best Figures in a innings:

World/England: Laker 10-53 (Most difficult of them all i reckon)

    Best Figures in a Match:

World/England: 19/90 Laker (actully this one could be the most difficult)

Going to post my squad selections in a bit and why I choose players for my Sri Lanka Sieres.

Interesting idea, there's some really difficult ones in there.

Think you'll need to pick a young spinner for every possible game if you're to get close to the bowling ones- Danny Briggs perhaps, or Borthwick at Durham.

If you can get anyone near Bradman's average I'll be amazed.

Squad for first Sri Lanka Test

      Batsman Choosen:

      Alastair Cook:
I choose him to break the English Record for Most Centurys as he only need 7 more centuries to break the record and should do it easily given he is only 26. I also back him to Smash Gooch's record of 8900 test runs and could perhaps challenge Sachins 14000 odd test runs if he performs out his skin for the next 10 years. (I'm a optimistic guy what can i say?).

      Jonathon Trott:
I choose him to help make us a successful test team and to help us win matches while I blood in new youth players. Because I don't just want to break records i want to win series because who likes losing? He could also if he bats amazingly brilliant for a year or two challenge Don Bradmans Average. as i said i'm optimistic!

      J Maneul:
He has a first class average of 52 and scored one hundred and had a 50 and has also been not out twice in 7 innings and there is room for improvement because he is only 20. He is also well suited to being a opening test batsmen because of his strong preferance to pace bowling.

      Ben Stokes:
I see him as my answer to Paul Collingwood a guy who can bowl over with a older ball to save my fast bowler and he also has the abilty to take wickets with 2 5 wicket hauls in his first class career he is a handy guy with the ball. But i mainly brought him in because the guy can bat he averages 47 in First Class Cricket and has 4 100's and highscore of 166. And he will be around for a while seeing as though he is only 20.

      Goodman:
This batsman doesnt have great First Class stats but i have hope he has scored a 144 in First Class Cricket which is his only century. His average in FC cricket is 41 which show he can score runs and at the age of 20 he has time to adapt to the longest form of the game.

      Eoin Morgan:
He already has a test match century which show he can get runs in test cricket. But with a average in the 30s he has not he forfilled his potential at this level. But i think that his aggressive style of batting means he can take the game away from the opposition in a quick time which will hopefully mean he can help us win matches for us.

      James Taylor:
Probaly Englands most talented up and comers with a First Class high score of 207* and with 7 first class hundreds and has a average of 44.83 in first class cricket and he could score more runs than gooch and Sachin if he stays in form and fit for most his career.

      Wheater:
This is my most promising player i have to score more hundreds than Tendulkar as he averages 55.52 in FC cricket and has 3 100s and 9 50s in First Class cricket. And he is a Keeper as well which means he is more than useful to my side as he bring depth to my batting and fills a important position for my side heres hoping he is a sucsess.

      Bowlers:

      Steven Finn:
He has had 6 5 wickets Hauls and 1 10 wicket haul in first class cricket which makes him a good choice for my Test side. He also has taken a few test 5 5 wicket hauls which means he can take wickets at test level.

      Toby Roland Jones:
A young pace bowler with a first class average 18.71 he is the currently one of Englands best pace bowlers at county level and a great choice for my team and good option to help me break muralis 10 wicket hauls record and perhaps 5 wicket haul record.

      Danny Briggs:
Englands most promising spinners the Left arm spinner (who bowls chinaman acording to this game). He has taken 3 5 wicket hauls and has a Average of 24.75 in FC cricket. He is my best hope for breaking muralis 800 wickets but chances are he wont but he could if he devolps well and keeps fit.

      Alex Jones:
A left arm pace man that is only 22 years old he has a average of 22.50 in FC and bowls at good economy in FC cricket. He will hopefully take a few wickets in tests and keep the oppositions scoring rate down and build pressure on the opposition to help my other bowlers to take wickets and he could help me win a few games.

I picked Briggs to help get muralis records.

And Bradmans going to be imposible to do but we will see what i can do this is going to take about 10 seasons to do it. Just as well im on summer holidays!

            Squad for India Tests

            Batting Order:

            A.Cook
            J.Maniel
            J.Trott
            J.Taylor
            B.Stokes
            E.Morgan
            A.Wheater
            C.Woakes
            S.Broad
            D.Briggs
            T.Roland-Jones

            Sub:
            S.Thakor

            Changes:

            S.Thakor in for Goodman

            S.Broad in for Steven Finn

After Goodmans horible performances in the test sieres against Sri Lanka were he averaged like 8 or something stupid like that so hes gone untill he improves. So he i getting replaced for S.thakor the 17 year old who averages 50 in First Class cricket so he is a good candidate to score more runs than sachin is his test career.

Stuart Broad was injured in the last series so he couldnt play but he comes int to replace S.Finn because i think he could beat Bothams record in a few years and offers more depth in batting.

            More to come tommorow....

                          2012 Season Reveiw

2012 was not a good season for My England team.

Drawing a sieres to Sri Lanka

                          Losing to South Africa

                          And beating the mighty Zimbabwe

But there has been some Bonuses from some performances from certain players.

Danny Briggs has got his 104 test wicket at the age of 21 could he get the 800 wickets to become a world Record breaker? Maybe.

Alistair Cook has got 27 Test Centuries breaking the english record for most test centuries. Might be able to get to 51 centuries to break sachins record.

Tom Bould has got a average of 269 in tests with 2 centuries in 3 innings. Hope he can keep it up.

Roland Jones is on 89 wickets with a few Five wicket hauls so hes doing well.

The team still need to gel and adapt to international cricket and next season we will hopefully be winning more series and become number 1 test team in the world in the next few year. Will update tommorow.
