  • England - Reviving English Cricket From The Dead

English cricket needs to be sorted out big time. Average performances in ODIs and T20's, and inconsistent test performances are the biggest issue. To deal with this, they bring in relatively unknown Greg Hyde for the job.

    World Twenty20 - West Indies
This is the first competition, which will hope to give England some confidence going into a test series with Bangladesh, and more importantly, the Ashes Series Down Under.

England's T20 Squad: Michael Lumb, Kevin Pietersen, Eoin Morgan, Ravi Bopara, Michael Yardy, Craig Kieswetter (wk), Paul Collingwood (c), Luke Wright, Graeme Swann, Tim Bresnan, James Tredwell, Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom, James Anderson, Ajmal Shahzad

England will hope to get a good start to their campaign, first against the West Indies and Ireland.

1st Group Game v West Indies

Starting XI: Kieswetter (wk), Lumb, Pietersen, Collingwood (c), Morgan, Wright, Yardy, Swann, Broad, Sidebottom, Anderson

England couldn't have wished for a better start. Sidebottom, with his and England's first ball of the tournament saw Chris Gayle edge it to Collingwood in the slips, and that set the tone for the Windies innings. The batsmen got started, but they struggled to get some momentum. End of innings - 109 all out.

      Top Scorer: D Bravo 34
Top Wicket Taker: P Collingwood 4/9

England had no problems chasing 109. New openers Craig Kieswetter and Michael Lumb took most of the total away, adding 100 runs, both gaining half centuries, with Kieswetter staying at the crease all game. Pietersen struggled after falling to left arm spin again for a measly 1 run, while Collingwood was 1*. End of innings - 110/2. England win.

      Top Scorer: C Kieswetter 55*
Top Wicket Taker: K Roach 1/14

Good start to your story. I look forward to reading more.

I see you've chosen the exact same England squad as in real-life. It's a bit of a brave move from a cricketing standpoint, but it IS a great idea for a story.

          2nd Group Game vs Ireland

Starting XI: Same against West Indies

Ireland won the toss and put England into bat. However, that was a mistake. Once again, Craig Kieswetter put in yet another stunning performance by hitting 74 off 50 balls before being run out. Pietersen put in a good batting performance by scoring a 50. Lumb and Collingwood got themselves started, with Lumb being caught, and Collingwood remaining to the end. Morgan scored over a run a ball with 8 off 7. End of innings - 173/3.

          Top Scorer: C Kieswetter 74
Top Wicket Taker: B Rankin 1/29

Ireland looked to try and score quick, but the inexperienced Ireland side struggled to get past 70 before getting out. Porterfield top scored with 19, but the innings belonged to England's spin king, Graeme Swann, taking a 5 wicket haul in less than 3 overs. The other bowlers chipped in too. End of innings - 69 all out.

          Top Scorer: W Porterfield 19
Top Wicket Taker: G Swann 5/12

            1st Super8 Game vs Pakistan

Starting XI: Same against West Indies & Ireland

England's impressive performances with the ball continued as there were men falling for less than 10. Umar Akmal had a good performance with the bat scoring very quickly before being removed by Broad, while his brother Kamran Akmal managed to stay in from no. 6. Graeme Swann followed his 5 wicket haul in the next game with another 5 wicket haul. End of innings - 139/9

            Top Scorer: U Akmal 46
Top Wicket Taker: G Swann 5/19

Craig Kieswetter once again displayed great batting skill by hitting his 3rd consecutive 50 in the tournament. England however struggled with the bat, but with a good knock from Collingwood (32), and Yardy (19*) scored quickly, England managed to beat Pakistan. Pakistan's star bowler, Shahid Afridi did very well by removing Kieswetter, and managed to stop others from getting dangerous scores in the game. End of innings - 141/8. England win.

            Top Scorer: C Kieswetter 56
Top Wicket Taker: S Afridi 4/34
