getting to 2030?

how long does it take to get through 20 seasons just skipping all the games?
is there a quicker way that im missing as skipping all the games to get to 2030 takes forever

I don't see why you'd want to skip? As far as i know there isn't an easier way then simming games other then just playing it which is the fun part of the game. Working through the highs and lows of your club and developing youngsters to replace the greats your team already has from real life

or do those people with demon teams in years past 2030 play all the matches from 2010 - because that takes forever as well

Does not make sense. Tell me one thing. When u skip ur matches, what will happen to ur players form?
Most likely it will drop. Similarly if u will skip matches, there will be lesser chances of getting better youth. In other words, after skipping for like 20 seasons, u will have players not better than 2010 even. Who so ever says this tries to misguide others.
U can skip 2 or 3 seasons to get regens and then you should play every game to develope ur regens into good players. So by the time you will be in 2030, you will get better players as u would have improved ur old players to a point that it will become necessary to throw in better youngsters than older players to make ur team more competative.

By skipping seasons you can't make your team much perfect
So I advise u to play mostly seasons & select better youth players
to make your team much stronger than before

Personally I start getting bored once the game proceeds that far. I've played till 2028 and then I started afresh. Mostly because I had no player I started out with and missed those players...Now all I had were imaginary players that I bred.

I rename all my players as the come.

Before I finished playing 2010 my 2045 team was.

Trescothick
Gower
Hick
Smith (R)
Botham
Rhodes
Imran Khan (overseas player)
Underwood
Swann
Jones (S)


And Sehwag signed for T20 also in the squad.(the whole squad was named after former world class players)

I renamed the England squad as well, and if another county or country had a great player i'd rename them appropriately also.

After all it's only a set of numbers in the first place. As soon as you rename your off.

The trick is to rename like-for-like and it took a LONG time to build up a team worthy of the names I gave them AND with the right characteristics (i.e Trescothick had to be a LH bat who bowled M was aggressive and had a good average)

It's more a case of thinking "What's a real world equivalent for this player" rather than thinking "I want a Flintoff"

I never have found another Flintoff (allrounder, aggressive. RH F or MF, worth a regular place in the English side) - the player I renamed Botham was RFM - too slow for Flintoff - I know Both was quick (ish) in the late 70's but for most of his career he was a mid to low 80's bowler at best.

Once the renaming is done it's all good. It takes no "leap of faith" for this to work that I can see. Like I said, the original players are only numbers in the first place.

I used to rename players once they had become established in a side. I'd try to pick a friend that seemed to match the personality of the player, and add an appropriate picture. I really miss being able to add player pictures - it was a nice touch. I remember in one of the older versions someone even had a gallery of pictures that you could "patch" the game with...

Yeah - no need to supply any with the game. JUst allow people to add their own.

Went online with my Uber team once.

"Where did you get all those from"
"I got a good team and renamed the players"
then 10 minutes later when I was winning comfortably
"How come you got Imran. He's not in the game?"
"I said - I got a good regen and renamed him"
"Cheat.. I'm reporting you on the forums"

Disconnect

That was about the time I gave up with playing online with this game. After 3 or 4 disconnects by people who were losing - or just abuse - or "How can you get this game free" or "Are you a p***?" (which was one question I was asked all the time - no idea why) or just plain "You cheat" or just some vile language...I gave up.

One consolation was that I read the forums and found that accustaions of cheating and foul language, disconnects by players losing, offers of viagra, pirated games and what-not seemed to be the rule online - so at least I wasn't alone.

That's one area of the game I certainly won't be going back to ever. I've also banned my eldest son (who was number 3 in the ICC2010 league for weeks) from playing this game online as well. It's not a pleasant experience.

That's a good ploy. I did that with a few players. Would name them after myself or my brother or friends if they had the same skills but when ever a medium pacer/ batting all-rounder came along and I named him after myself he'll go and suck! I didn't have the heart to drop the guy but he'll be useless!
