  • Bleuch, that is unfortunate... that sort of defeat always seems to be the worst, because it makes you feel that all the good efforts have been wasted. Just looking back at some of your previous matches, it seems that your batsmen have been letting you down a fair bit in the second innings: in the first test and also in the series against SL.

Yes - the second innings has posed a problem in more matches than I'd like. Hopefully that situation will change soon.

If you're asking me, I always play on normal level.

You have to get used to the disappointments with NZ. There are quite a few!

                  • NZ Squad for the ODIs v South Africa

Still with an eye towards getting the right squad organised for the upcoming World Cup, I've left out our best OD batsman Ross Taylor, in order to determine which other three batsmen to take.
I've included Ingram as a third opener in case Fulton continues his shocking form.
With so many quality allrounders who bowl just as well as specialist bowlers, Tim Southee is the only specialist bowler included.

                    • Before the ODIs was the 20/20 international.
The South Africans batted first and got away on us, with De Villiers smashing a match winning 88no.
Chasing 184 to win was beyond us and we fell well short.

                      • NZ v South Africa (1st ODI)

Although we got home with the best part of ten overs to spare, we lost more wickets in doing so than was comfortable.

                        NZ 1-0 up.

                        • NZ v South Africa (2nd ODI)

I thought that 220 would be a competitive score, but the South African openers wasted us in the second ODI.

The series now standing at 1-1.

                          • NZ v South Africa (3rd ODI)

The third match was a close affair, and it was heartbreaking to lose from a strong position.

South Africa now 2-1 up with two to play.

                            • NZ v South Africa (4th ODI)

After setting ourselves up for a likely victory, we lost five wickets in the space of just 19 runs without even trying!

South Africa now with a 3-1 lead and revenge is theirs.

                              • Hi there!
I was playing the game for the first time last night and decided to do so with a weak team. So,i chose NZ.
This was my ODI line up:

                                1.Fulton
                                2.Guptill
                                3.McCullum
                                4.Taylor
                                5.Ryder
                                6.Oram
                                7.Flynn
                                8.Franklin
                                9.Vettori
                                10.Mills
                                11.Southee

I quit after losing the 2011 WC Q/F to Australia.
I thought i did pretty well overall.

I'm planning to give it one more shot with NZ today.
So,please suggest changes in the playing xi if possible.
