  • ICC 2010 Must Read!!!

I don't know it's too late or not . This is my proposal for ICC 2010-

    (1) Multiple player save game . Why ? Because I play 2 player games with my Brother . But we can only play it like friendly games . Not in real competitions .

In FIFA Manager or Football Manager we can play 2 player games in real competition . I take Liverpool , My Brother takes Arsenal . We play full league competition . But in ICC there is only 2 player friendly .

I want to see "Add new Player" button in ICC 2010 . THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT .

    (2) Player stats . I want to see top scorers/catchers/wicket takers of first class , One day pro league and T20 matches every season .

    (3) Players with good performance get selected . I see some players don't get selected after scoring 2000+ runs .

    (4) Different Batting styles . For example- Marcus Trescothick stands tall and never knocks his bat with ground(My favorite batsman) . Sachin Tendulkar knocks his bat with ground . Lara jumps on back foot .

    (5) Hall of fame and World XI . My players are retiring . It's really sad to see them go . It would be nice to see Hall of Fame . And arrange matches against them sometimes .

    (6) Sky high hitters . Some players only hit balls on the air . Some play grounded shots .

    (7) Fielder status & Keeper status . For example- poor , Average , Excellent , World Class , Divine . Fielding is very important . Jonty Rhodes only dropped two catches in his entire career .

I always look at the CPM before signing a player . In first classes Matches one dropped catch can ruin the team .

    (8) Bowling Speed and Talent . For example- ★★★★★

    It was discussed before .

    (9) More weak teams . I like to play with teams like USA , CANADA . It's a challenge to build a Team strong .

    (10) Player status change . Batsman bowels well he becomes an all rounder , Bowler bats well he becomes an All rounder . Player keeps well becomes a Keeper .

    Shane Watson is opener now

Some good ideas there, especially the 'add new player' button and the ability for players to change from batsmen to all rounder, etc.

There should be a new 'opener all-rounder' category for players like Watson, too.

I think it may be too late to add new things to ICC '10.

Although most of these have been mentioned before, this is a decent list.

In general, looking down, it is mostly about fleshing out the stats and characteristics of individual players. Also allowing them to develop.

Fielding skills (something I had not really considered till someone posted on it last week) now seem like quite a big area of omission.

Player development is another i'm keen to see. Watching Harmison on the telly in the Kent Durham game on Sky this week - never bowling above 84mph (and frequently in the 70's) shows how players change.

Hoggard use to be able to bowl 88mph. But dropped massively in pace over the years.

Simon Jones picked up reverse swing in 2004. He spent the first 5 years of his career as a seamer.

Craig White was an offspinner for years. But then bowled faster than Darren Gough before his heart defect stopped him a few years back.

KP was a specialist spinner (batted down the order), Broad was a number 4 bat in the second XI before his 19th birthday he didn't bowl much at all.

Then there are freaks like Jimmy Adams (the West Indian Jimmy Adams). Medium pace, offspin, keeper, opener, number 4,5 or 6 batter.

And the most versatile of them. Sir Garry Sobers

      The guy bowled (in test matches, not just messing around);

      Seam
      Swing
      Off Spin
      Leg spin

He kept wicket, opened, batted every position from 1 to 8 (well!)

fielded slip, then covers, then mid on/off

So let's flesh out the characters. We will connect more with them if they seem more real.
Give them styles and quirks and let them evolve in time and with training.

      That'd be nice

      Scritty
The continued lack of stats in ICC is not so much the elephant in the room - as the Brontosaurus in the bathtub.

That's an interesting point, not least because that exact situation was discussed yesterday. We can't have opener all-rounder's in the game, the code as it stands, doesn't allow for it. We've changed Watson to an opener, the game will still bowl him, but most importantly the AI should be picking him at 1 or 2, instead of 6 or so.

There are some good ideas there, definitely way too late for ICC 2010, which we are just tidying up bugs on, I think fielding is something we are going to look to work on in 2011, there seems to be quite a bit of demand, we'll rack our brains to see how we can incoportate it in, we've not worked on it in 2010, but you'll see why soon.

The changing of speeds/bowling/player types and the general development of players is, again, an interesting topic. May require some thinking for next year.

That's good news. Similar thing going on with Tom Smith? Or has his success (or lack of it) count against this happening.

yes. must have fielding skills and all rounder opener and all rounder keeper like dilshan from sri lanka (i have made the icons for these will add them soon) must have 2nd nationalities (dirk nannes) and ingame player editor that can't edit skills

Unfortunately testing of the Watson experiment didn't prove positive from the AI point of view and it is too late to do for this version what we have in mind as a potential solution to the problem.

I have Lancs' Tom Smith in as an all-rounder still, again, same problem with the Watson experiment mentioned above. It's frustrating, but we are a bit tied with it for this version as focus has been put on other areas, always quite difficult when players go against the norm.

dancingmongoose - The game doesn't allow all-rounder openers, it's not as simple as adding an icon for it, it would be a lot deeper than that.

Dirk Nannes doesn't have a 2nd nationality, no player has one, it's not allowed in international cricket, but the ICC does give special dispensation on special cases. Like Nannes move from Netherlands to Australia and Morgan/Joyce to England from Ireland.
