Oh no..... Big problem please help

Please someone help me. I was playing with england and was in the year 2204. But today when i tried to open the game file it said "Unable to load file, Unrecognised file format" and its not loading. Can anyone tell me why am i facing this problem???

I think this problem cropped up in a thread a week or so ago. Pretty much, when you last played, did you save and exit the game as usual, or did your computer or the game crash and closed without saving? This can sometimes corrupt the file, forcing to still be read in an active format as opposed to a saved format.

Hang on, wasn't there something about this a while ago where the guy realised that if he removed the .cap file from the directory (not inside the game) and renamed the .cbk file to a .cap file it would work again? Not sure if that's right, but I guess it's worth a go.
