    Hampshire vs Surrey
    One Day Cup

Tom Bailey replaces Sonny Baker in Hampshire's only change.

Hampshire: Lees, Nicholls+, Patel, Vince*, Woodward, Morrison, Higgins, Carson, Pretorius, Bailey, Cochrane
Surrey: Osborne, Hassan, Lawrence, Brennan, Chester, Foakes, Ross, Lawes, Taylor, Harrison, Norton

Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

    Hampshire: 298-7 (50) - Vince 86, Patel 71; Lawes 4-72
Good knocks from Vince and Patel but Hampshire were looking a little short until Carson and Pretorius blasted 29 from the final over to help Hampshire reach 298.

    Surrey: 300-9 (46.2) - Osborne 73, Hassan 55; Carson 3-73
It went right to the wire but Surrey narrowly got home, with number 11 Norton hitting his first ball to the rope.

    Surrey won by 1 wicket

      Hampshire vs Worcestershire
      One Day Cup
18-year-old Tom Swann makes his debut, replacing Alex Lees at the top of the order.

Hampshire: Swann, Nicholls+, Patel, Vince*, Woodward, Morrison, Higgins, Carson, Pretorius, Bailey, Cochrane
Worcestershire: Flowers, Libby, Blake, Hammond, Pollock, Nicholls, Allison, Taylor, Gibbon, Dwarshuis, Vithushan

Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

      Hampshire: 250 (49.3) - Pretorius 69, Carson 56; Taylor 5-55, Gibbon 3-43
Dreadful from Hampshire's top order, but the last three wickets added 155 to at least give Hampshire something to bowl at.

      Worcestershire: 251-7 (40.5) - Flowers 132; Pretorius 3-46
Another loss for Hampshire, mainly thanks to Flowers' superb 132.

      Worcestershire won by 3 wickets

Hampshire are unchanged as they host group leaders Nottinghamshire.

Hampshire: Swann, Nicholls+, Patel, Vince*, Woodward, Morrison, Higgins, Carson, Pretorius, Bailey, Cochrane
Nottinghamshire: Slater, Holland, Payne, Tector, Wharton, Green, Hall, Hutton, McKerr, Lord, Farhan

Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

        Hampshire: 271-7 (50) - Morrison 66, Woodward 43; Lord 2-51
Hampshire scraped up to 271 thanks to contributions from the youngsters in the middle order.

        Nottinghamshire: 273-4 (41.4) - Tector 104*, Wharton 70; Cochrane 2-45
Another heavy defeat for Hampshire as Tector's unbeaten hundred secured a comfortable win for Notts.

          Middlesex vs Hampshire
          One Day Cup

Felix Organ replaces Jack Carson and Mitchell Killeen is in for Tom Bailey - Hampshire playing for pride now in this competition.

Middlesex: ul-Hassan, Hameed, Williamson, Sawant, Geddes, Armstrong, Tunnicliff, Davies, Pointer, Cornwell, Buckingham
Hampshire: Swann, Nicholls+, Patel, Vince*, Woodward, Morrison, Higgins, Organ, Pretorius, Killeen, Cochrane

Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

          Hampshire: 275-6 (50) - Woodward 70, Nicholls 61, Higgins 54*; Buckingham 3-45
Hampshire finished strongly through Woodward and Higgins, but it looks to be another poor score on the board.

          Middlesex: 276-2 (39.5) - Williamson 102*, ul-Hassan 93, Hameed 49
Hampshire's poor form in this competition continued as they were hammered by a struggling Middlesex side.

          Middlesex won by 8 wickets

            Hampshire vs Lancashire
            One Day Cup

Three changes and two more academy debuts for Hampshire in their final game of a dreadful competition: opener Greg Corry replaces Tom Swann, wicketkeeper Anthony Hammond replaces Noel Morrison, and Sonny Baker is back for Mitchell Killeen.

Hampshire: Corry, Nicholls, Patel, Vince*, Woodward, Higgins, Hammond+, Organ, Pretorius, Cochrane, Baker
Lancashire: Jones, Compton, Pickering, Burton, de Leede, Sharkey, Mullin, Balderson, Hargrave, Blatherwick, Horne

Lancashire won the toss and elected to field first.

            Hampshire: 208-6 (43) - Higgins 88, Patel 51; Balderson 2-22
Higgins' brilliant counter-attacking 88 from 64 balls helped Hampshire recover from 36-4 to post 208 from their reduced allocation of overs.

            Lancashire: 210-6 (38.1) - Burton 54, de Leede 48*; Organ 2-43
Again, the Hampshire fans went home disappointed as their team failed to win a match all competition, another resounding defeat and they'll be glad it's now over.

            Lancashire won by 4 wickets

            • Player Watch: The Hundred
With the One Day Cup completed for another year, we take a look at how Hampshire's Hundred contingent fared:
              • Ali Orr played all ten matches in a campaign which saw the Birmingham Phoenix reach the final. Batting in the lower middle order, he scored 117 runs at an average of 39 and strike rate of 150, including an unbeaten 30 in the final.
              • Kiran Carlson played three matches for the Welsh Fire, only managing 8 runs.
              • Ben Green was ever-present for the London Spirit, scoring 44 runs and taking ten wickets.
              • Toby Albert also played every match for the Phoenix, scoring 92 runs with a high score of 39*.
              • Donovan Ferreira struggled for the Oval Invincibles despite being a regular, only managing 59 runs from eight matches.
              • Paul Walter played eight matches for Welsh Fire, scoring 45 runs and taking seven expensive wickets.
              • Scott Currie was outstanding, playing nine matches for the Fire and taking 17 wickets, including three in the final.
              • John Turner played eight matches for the Trent Rockets, taking 8 wickets.
              • Sam Cook was in the Rockets' squad, but didn't make an appearance for them.
              • Kagiso Rabada was on international duty so didn't play a match for the Phoenix.

                Northamptonshire vs Hampshire
                Vitality Blast Quarter Final

Hampshire are back in action in the Blast, hoping to put their dreadful One Day Cup campaign behind them and attempt to reach Finals Day for the first time in the save. They are unchanged from their previous T20 lineup.

Northants: Astle, Vasconcelos, Broad, Fraine, Zaib, Sales, Dillon, Vij, Heldreich, Walcott, Khan
Hampshire: Lees, Vince*, Albert+, Prest, Higgins, Ferreira, Green, Carson, Currie, Zampa, Turner

Northamptonshire won the toss and elected to field first.

                Hampshire: 172-8 (20) - Vince 76, Albert 73; Walcott 3-18
Hampshire had a good score on the board thanks to a brilliant partnership between Vince and Albert (the latter recording his highest T20 score), but Hampshire only managed two runs from the last two overs as wickets tumbled, they'll hope that doesn't cost them.

                Northants: 173-5 (17.5) - Astle 79; Zampa 3-29
An excellent chase from the hosts, as they put Hampshire under pressure early, with only Zampa really offering any control for Hampshire, who lose their second consecutive quarter-final.

                Northamptonshire won by 5 wickets

                  Hampshire vs Surrey
                  County Championship Division One

With Hampshire 61 points behind leaders Surrey, this is a must-win, and must win big, game for the home side if they are to complete an unlikely title win, with three games remaining. Kagiso Rabada is available for selection again, though probably only briefly - he replaces Felix Organ from the last Championship lineup.

Hampshire: Orr*, Nicholls, Gubbins, Bohannon, Prest, Albert+, Higgins, Carson, Bailey, Rabada, Turner
Surrey: Nissanka, Gay, Pope, Carver, Lawrence, Osborne, Foakes, Lawes, Atkinson, Simmons, Norton

Hampshire won the toss and elected to field first.

                  Surrey 1st: 302 (95.3) - Carver 67, Lawrence 56; Carson 4-49
A decent first innings from Surrey in tricky conditions, but a pretty even first day.

                  Hampshire 1st: 295 (95.3) - Albert 111, Gubbins 79; Atkinson 5-84
Hampshire fell to 38-4 early on, recovering well through Albert and Gubbins to pretty much match Surrey's first innings, batting exactly the same number of overs, strangely.

                  Surrey 2nd: 252 (65) - Osborne 73*, Nissanka 56; Carson 7-90
Carson took his wicket tally to 11 for the match, including a hat-trick as Hampshire would require 260 to keep their faint title hopes alive for a further week.

                  Hampshire 2nd: 261-7 (87.3) - Gubbins 99, Albert 52; Lawes 3-69, Atkinson 3-83
Hampshire closed Day 3 on 90-3, the match evenly poised. But another brilliant partnership between Gubbins and Albert saw the job almost complete, the former so unlucky to fall on 99 with the winning line in sight. Carson and Bailey finished the job for Hampshire, and the title race is still alive heading into the penultimate match.

                  • 15th September 2028 - Taunton
                    Somerset vs Hampshire
                    County Championship Division One

Kagiso Rabada is back with South Africa so Sam Cook comes back in, with Hampshire knowing they'd essentially need maximum points from the final two matches, and for Surrey to lose both.

Somerset: Lammonby, Khushi, Abell, J Rew, Paulin, Banton, Smeed, Gregory, Barrie, Leach, Bashir
Hampshire: Orr*, Nicholls, Gubbins, Bohannon, Prest, Albert+, Higgins, Carson, Bailey, Cook, Turner

Hampshire won the toss and elected to field first.

                    Somerset 1st: 236 (73.2) - Rew 71; Turner 5-51
Good performance from Hampshire. Turner took five and there were two each for Bailey and Cook, with Banton retiring hurt.

                    Hampshire 1st: 162 (64.1) - Bohannon 32; Leach 4-61, Bashir 3-49
The Somerset spinners dominated, with two wickets for former Hampshire academy bowler Barrie.

                    Somerset 2nd: 164 (50) - Smeed 37*; Higgins 3-34, Cook 3-44
Excellent comeback from Hampshire as they kept the target below 240, it will take a big effort though to overcome the first innings deficit.

                    Hampshire 2nd: 241-4 (97) - Prest 67*, Gubbins 63, Albert 49*; Bashir 2-43
An excellent chase from Hampshire as Surrey were confirmed champions; however, Hampshire have guaranteed themselves to at least finish in the top three.

                    • 24th September 2028 - Southampton
                      Hampshire vs Warwickshire
                      County Championship Division One

With the title now impossible, Hampshire opted to rotate the final game and give a few players opportunities to essentially play for a new contract, with six of the eleven players out of contract in the winter. Academy batter Greg Corry makes his First Class debut, having played one of the One Day matches.

Hampshire: Orr*, Albert+, Gubbins, Bohannon, Carlson, Corry, Higgins, Organ, Bailey, Cook, Killeen
Warwickshire: Khan, Yates, Patel, Bethell, Weatherall, Davies, Barnard, Booth, Hasan, O'Rourke, Hockney

Warwickshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

                      Warks 1st: 232 (66.4) - Bethell 90; Higgins 4-21, Killeen 3-47
Bethell starred with the bat but there were excellent returns for Higgins and Killeen.

                      Hampshire 1st: 331 (123.5) - Orr 89, Albert 77; Hasan 4-104, O'Rourke 3-94
An excellent opening partnership was undone by a middle-order collapse, but Hampshire still managed to get a lead of 99.

                      Warks 2nd: 265 (88.2) - Bethell 67; Bailey 5-67, Cook 3-47
Good again from Hampshire as Bailey and Cook did the majority of the damage.

                      Hampshire 2nd: 167-7 (52) - Gubbins 52; O'Rourke 3-45
A little nervy from Hampshire but they got the job done to secure second place on their return to Division One with 230 points, a season they can be very proud of.

                      Hampshire won by 3 wickets

                      • 2028 END OF SEASON REVIEW AND PLAYER AWARDS
Hampshire might have expected a tough time on their return to Division One, but they were excellent in the Championship, finishing second with ten wins from their 14 matches. They also progressed from their Vitality Blast group, finishing third, but lost to Northants in the quarter-final. However, yet again, they were dreadful in the One Day Cup, finishing bottom of the group for the third time in the save. Overall, though, it's a season to build upon for Hampshire who look to be starting to find some positive consistency in the Championship and the Blast.

                        Championship
Surrey were finally back to winning ways in the Championship as they ended a three-year drought, finishing top of Division One with 260 points. Leicestershire went straight back down, finishing ninth, and it was a surprisingly poor season for Essex who were also relegated. Division Two champions Lancashire will be joined by Worcestershire in Division One next year, the two promoted sides.

                        One Day Cup
Essex, Sussex and Derbyshire qualified from Group A, joined in the latter stages by Nottinghamshire, Surrey and Lancashire. The final was played between both group winners, with Nottinghamshire coming out on top.

                        Blast
The Northern representation in the latter stages consisted of Yorkshire, Northamptonshire, Lancashire and Birmingham, joined by Somerset, Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex from the South. The final would be played between Somerset and defending champions Northants, and Somerset were crowned the winners having been losing semi-finalists last year.

                        The Hundred
The Welsh Fire won their second consecutive Hundred title, beating Birmingham Phoenix in a closely-fought final.

                        Player Awards:
Red Ball Batter of the Year: Ali Orr
Hampshire's captain had another stellar season at the top of the order, scoring 1158 runs at an average of 44.54, with two hundreds and seven fifties. His tally was closely followed by Josh Bohannon (994) and Toby Albert (969), the only other batters to score more than 700 runs for Hampshire this year.

White Ball Batter of the Year: Toby Albert
In a year in which Hampshire struggled with the bat, Toby Albert was the standout in the Blast, with 478 runs at an average of 32, and strike rate of 147, with four fifties, including a career-best in Hampshire's quarter final. Building upon the promise shown in previous seasons, Albert has become a key player in Hampshire's red and white-ball sides.

Red Ball Bowler of the Year: Tom Bailey
Hampshire's strength in the Championship was undoubtedly their bowling, and a surprise package in Tom Bailey receives the award this year. 44 wickets at an average of 26 sees him just pip Jack Carson (45 wickets @ 22) for his overall consistency, especially since he was only originally signed for squad depth, and turned out to be one of Hampshire's most important players. Ryan Higgins (41 wickets), John Turner (36) and Scott Currie (24) were Hampshire's other standouts with the ball.

White Ball Bowler of the Year: John Turner
No debates here - John Turner's 37 wickets in 15 T20 matches, averaging just 11.73, sees him take the award, surpassing even Matt Henry's outstanding performances last year. Hampshire's bowling is what saw their success in the Blast, with other standout tallies coming from Currie (21), Green (17) and Zampa (16).

Player of the Year: Toby Albert
This was the year that Toby Albert really cemented himself into Hampshire's strongest side - with bigger responsibility, taking the gloves off former captain Ben Brown following his departure, he stood up and rightly earns this coveted award.

Young Player of the Year: Alan Cochrane
Cochrane only played in the One Day Cup, but the 23-year-old was undoubtedly Hampshire's best bowler in the competition, taking 13 wickets from his eight matches. He'll be hoping those performances will lead to more first-team opportunities in other formats next season.

                        • CONTRACTS
At the end of the year, veteran seamer Tom Bailey announced his retirement after an excellent season with Hampshire, which topped off a career most county cricketers could only dream of.
Hampshire also announced that Felix Organ, Cameron Steel and Mitchell Killeen would be leaving the club upon the expiry of their contracts.
                          • Felix Organ played over 120 matches in all formats for Hampshire, scoring over 3000 runs and taking over 150 wickets.
                          • Cameron Steel played only one match in his second stint at the club, and was unable to make an impact in the short time he was here.
                          • Mitchell Killeen showed promise in his three seasons at the club, but could never nail down a significant role in the side, ending with just 11 matches for Hampshire and 18 wickets across formats.

This news was followed by the surprise announcement that Kiran Carlson has been released early from his original three-year deal. The former Glamorgan captain never settled in his only season at the club, only managing 84 runs in his ten innings, and a mutual agreement was reached for him to pursue other opportunities elsewhere.

Hampshire then confirmed extended three-year deals for Club Captain Ali Orr and Josh Bohannon, with Adam Zampa set to return for a third consecutive year in the Vitality Blast. 20-year-old wicketkeeper Noel Morrison had his rookie contract upgraded to a professional deal for one year, but Hampshire decided against renewing any of the other academy intake. It was also confirmed that overseas players Henry Nicholls, Donovan Ferreira, Kagiso Rabada and Migael Pretorius would depart the club.
                          • Henry Nicholls scored over 2000 runs in all formats across his two seasons at the club, including three centuries and 13 fifties in his 49 matches across all three formats.
                          • Donovan Ferreira didn't have an easy time at Hampshire, only managing 81 runs from his ten Blast matches, averaging just 9.
                          • Kagiso Rabada took 12 wickets in five matches for the Club, but his availability is set to be limited even further next season.
                          • Migael Pretorius took 18 wickets in 10 matches for the club, across the Championship and One Day Cup.

                          Signings
Hampshire began the winter by announcing the signing of James Rew, who had failed to agree terms with Somerset. The 24-year-old already has 18 First Class centuries to his name, and close to 10,000 runs in all formats. He has also played in two Test matches for England. Rew signed a three-year contract that makes him by far the biggest domestic earner at the club, with Hampshire battling for his signing amongst three other counties.

Hampshire then announced they had agreed terms with Essex seamer Jamal Richards. Richards has been a key part of Essex's white-ball sides, taking 160 wickets in 108 limited overs matches, and has even been awarded with an ODI cap for England. Richards has signed a two-year contract with Hampshire.

Two more young bowlers joined the ranks: 22-year-old leg spinner Stuart Hockney signed from Warwickshire, after an impressive breakthrough season in which he took 56 wickets in 12 Championship matches. He was closely followed by 20-year-old swing bowler Craig Pointer from Middlesex, who has been impressive in Second XI cricket, but yet to show what he can do on the big stage. They both signed two-year deals with the Club.

A joint signing was then announced - Sri Lankan pair Pathum Nissanka and Theesan Vithushan have signed as overseas players for the 2029 season. Nissanka has close to 25,000 runs in all formats in his career, and signs off the back of three excellent years at Surrey, scoring nearly 3,000 runs in all formats. Nissanka is closing in on 300 Sri Lanka caps across all formats, and will be an excellent addition to Hampshire's top order. Left-arm spinner Vithushan spent the 2028 season at Worcestershire, and took 72 wickets in the Championship. He also has 24 Test wickets from seven matches for his country.

New Zealand white-ball international Tim Robinson joins as a reserve overseas player. Robinson has played 66 times for New Zealand, and the 26-year-old has over 8000 career runs across all formats. He also has previous experience in county cricket with Surrey and Northamptonshire, and will be available for all three formats when Hampshire's other overseas players are unavailable.

Hampshire's final signing sent both Hampshire supporters and rival fans into social media meltdown - they confirmed that Tilak Varma would finally return for a second stint at the club, having played three One Day matches in 2025, but this time he'd be available for all three formats. The India star has spent time at Leicestershire and returns to Hampshire with a point to prove to the national selectors, having only played T20I cricket in the last year. • Player Watch: Winter
With the 2029 season right around the corner, here's how Hampshire's players fared over the winter:
                            • Ali Orr was excellent in the UAE20, scoring 223 runs from seven matches at an average of 32, SR 153 and a career-best of 96.
                            • Pathum Nissanka was superb in the Sri Lankan domestic system and in the Big Bash for the Brisbane Heat, scoring 394 runs at an average of 44. He was in incredible form in ODI cricket and also hit his first ever T20I century against Zimbabwe.
                            • Tim Robinson had a decent domestic season and represented his country seven times over the winter.
                            • Tilak Varma had a stellar Indian season, averaging 75 in the Ranji Trophy and over 100 in both white-ball competitions, across the 12 matches he played. He also averaged above 50 in India's Test and T20 series against England, and is currently playing in the IPL.
                            • James Rew added a further two Test caps to his name, scoring one half-century against the West Indies.
                            • Adam Zampa had a solid Australian domestic season, contributing consistently across all three formats.
                            • Theesan Vithushan was impressive in Sri Lanka's Test series against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, and solid performer in the Sri Lankan system and the PSL.
The squads for this year's edition of The Hundred have also been confirmed, and the following Hampshire players are involved:
                            • Birmingham Phoenix: Toby Albert, Ali Orr
                            • London Spirit: Ben Green
                            • Welsh Fire: Scott Currie, Paul Walter
                            • Trent Rockets: John Turner
                            • Manchester Originals: James Rew
Sam Cook lost his contract with the Rockets, meaning he'll be available for One Day Cup selection in August.

                            • 4th April 2029 - Southampton
                              Hampshire vs Durham
                              County Championship Division One

Hampshire host Durham on the opening day of the 2029 season, hoping to go a step further from last year and aiming to win their first Championship title since 1973. Tilak Varma is away at the IPL, and Alex Lees and Jamal Richards will miss the first few weeks of the season through injury. There are Hampshire debuts for Pathum Nissanka, James Rew and Theesan Vithushan in an otherwise familiar Hampshire lineup.

Hampshire: Orr*, Nissanka, Gubbins, Bohannon, Rew+, Albert, Higgins, Currie, Cook, Turner, Vithushan
Durham: McKinney, Rhodes, Hurley, DeFries, Labuschagne, Maxwell, Robinson, Hill, Potts, Bartlett, Parkinson

Hampshire won the toss and elected to field first.

                              Durham 1st: 279 (81.4) - McKinney 68, Hurley 57, Maxwell 50; Vithushan 3-43, Cook 3-66, Turner 3-70
Decent start to the season for Hampshire with three wickets each for Vithushan, Cook and Turner as Durham's last six wickets fell for just 59.

                              Hampshire 1st: 138 (64.3) - Gubbins 51*; Bartlett 5-39, Hill 3-41
Dreadful from Hampshire, with only three batters reaching double figures, the last pair just scraped past the follow-on target.

                              Durham 2nd: 259 (80.1) - Maxwell 98, Potts 52; Cook 5-50
Durham were struggling at 150-7, but Maxwell and Potts added 100 to frustrate Hampshire, they ended up setting an unlikely target of 401.

                              Hampshire 2nd: 398-9 (158) - Nissanka 174, Bohannon 83; Bartlett 5-91
Nissanka struck a brilliant debut 174, well supported by Orr and Bohannon, but Hampshire lost wickets at crucial times in the chase. Two wickets in the final over, from which Turner and Cook needed to find five, meant that Hampshire fell just three runs short of a remarkable chase, and in the end were unlucky not to win.

                              • 11th April 2029 - Taunton
                                Somerset vs Hampshire
                                County Championship Division One
Scott Currie is rested, Sonny Baker takes his place, as Hampshire look for their first win of the new season after going so close against Durham. This does mean they have a very long tail with Cook in at 8, so they'll be relying heavily on the top seven to get the runs.

Somerset: Lammonby, Umeed, Abell, Paulin, Banton, Ibrahim, Marlowe, Leach, O'Rourke, Heywood, Ogborne
Hampshire: Orr*, Nissanka, Gubbins, Bohannon, Rew+, Albert, Higgins, Cook, Turner, Baker, Vithushan

                                Hampshire 1st: 233 (81.3) - Rew 115; O'Rourke 6-73
The visitors were in early trouble at 15-3, but Rew struck his first Hampshire century in just his second match - the 19th of his First Class career, coming against his home county - to achieve some respectability for Hampshire.

                                Somerset 1st: 180 (62.3) - Abell 68; Baker 3-29, Turner 3-48
A good response though from Hampshire as they secured a 53-run lead, there were also two wickets each for Cook and Vithushan.

                                Hampshire 2nd: 279 (109.1) - Higgins 57*, Nissanka 49; O'Rourke 5-84
Lots of starts for Hampshire, but no one could go on and get a big score with conditions pretty tricky. Somerset would need 333 to win.

                                Somerset 2nd: 132 (72) - Paulin 60rtd; Turner 4-52, Higgins 3-23
The reply never got going as Turner ran through the top order to reduce them to 21-4, and wickets fell regularly from then onwards as Hampshire sealed a massive 200-run win.

                                Hampshire won by 200 runs
