  • Year 2039 review

I am currently in year 2039 and I have witnessed the following problems which is making the game a bit unrealistic.

1)Too many legendary batsmen in every team , approx every team ODi team have 2 or 3 batsmen avg in the mid 50s and so many in 40s
2)The bowlers can't bat to save their lives making the game unrealistic ,if the era is batting era how come every bowler batting avg is less than 10?
3)Too many batting allrounders which actually can't bowl decently at all , no point having an icon of allrounder on them.
4)Bowling allrounders are generally crappy batters and in the batting era they are hardly averaging 20 odd with the bat.
    5)No genuine allrounder whatssover.
6)Too many variation in scores , some times you see a 396/5 and in very next game it is 74 allout , making the game appear very unrealistic.

    Solution.
1)Massively decrease the production of legendary batsmens , increase the quality of batting as a whole to fight inconsistent scores (including the batting ability of bowlers and allrounders)
2)Make sure that AI uses 6 bowlers in ODis and 5 bowlers in test , so that not every 4th bowler can end up having a career with loads of wicket
3)Make the allrounders batting and bowling potential fluctuating because we don't know which part of the game they will prefer in the later part of their careers and this will counter the no geniune allrounder problem as well.

Most of these were issues in 2020... I pointed out that bowlers couldn't bat a long time ago...

Genuine all rounder is incredibly rare, in real life as well. You look at Stokes, he's a much better batsman than a bowler.

Even the greats like Botham, Imran, Hadlee were better bowlers than batsmen... And then the likes of Sobers, Kallis were incredible batsmen who were 5th bowlers. I'm not sure there is such a thing as a 'genuine' all rounder.

After a generation or two last game there were multiple bowlers with 1000+ wickets and a number of batsmen averaging mid 50s in every team. Despite that I only ever saw one "genuine" all rounder average 50+ with the bat and mid 20s with the ball in Tests, which would be unheard of in real life. All rounders usually have a niche role in the team on their weaker side, even if it is just averaging ~20 with the bat as a lower order batsman.

Of the all time leading Test run scorers in real life, all have retired within the last 10 years. More runs are being scored so it could be seen as a natural increase. Bowlers taking more wickets is an anomaly but honestly, who can predict what cricket will look like in 20 years' time, pink ball cricket, LBW rule changes, etc. I would be worried if cricket was stagnant for decades in a row. Players also seem to play more matches in CC, particularly fast bowlers. Those players who topped the stat tables last game for me were all game record holders. A regen opener topped the all time run scorers for England (AI controlled) with an average less than 40 but played 250+ Tests. Eat you heart out Alastair Cook. It was a similar story with the top bowler with 1100+ wickets in 200+ Tests.

Personally I like post-current players having the ability to top the tables as long as the run scorers are balanced with the wicket takers. It makes going into future decades more interesting in my opinion. As long as it's after the current rookies retire.

As for AI using a fifth/sixth bowler, it would be nice but given how dominant the top players are, fitting a good allrounder in the mix might be too difficult for the AI without forcing it. Even picking an additional bowling option as the player is often redundant because of the skill gap between the best specialist players and allrounders.

Thanks. It looks better than previous years when all test bowlers had average > 30. Although only 1 bowler under 25 and today there are a lot of bowlers with that average.
