T20 Blast North Group
Yorkshire v Northamptonshire
A win here would have been good dust, but we were well and truly brought back down to Earth with a bump with a heavy defeat.Yorkshire v Northamptonshire
We put them into bat, which didn't turn out well. They smashed our bowlers all over, Joe Root and Gary Ballance doing most of the damage as they set us a monster target of 200
I'm not one to give up without a fight but at the back of my mind I was half thinking about our tournament run rate rather than whether we could chase it down. In the end I just decided to give the batsmen a free swing, we didn't disgrace ourselves but still fell well, well short.
Yorkshire: 199-6 (Root 61, Ballance 47 - Pretorius 2-41)
Northamptonshire: 147 (Levi 74 - Olivier 5-28, Willey 2-38
Yorkshire win by 52 runs.
We had some good news after the match though as Lancashire beat Worcestershire at Old Trafford. With Notts, Yorkshire and Durham already having the first 3 spots sown up, and us and Worcestershire level on 14 points, it's essentially a straight knockout match between us and them on the last group game of the Blast.
So, basically a last 16 tie to come against Worcestershire at New Road! Too nervous to play it at the minute. I heard their ground's flooded again though, so maybe we'll get sent through by default
