In June 2017, the International Cricket Council granted Ireland and Afghanistan Test-playing status, making them the 11th and 12th Full Members of the ICC. For the Irish, it had been a 5 year journey to reach Test status and finally reflected the talent coming out from across the Irish Sea. No longer would the likes of Boyd Rankin and Ed Joyce feature in English colours - the Irish travehad their cricket side, and could now forge their own path.
In this story I will be simply documenting my tenure as coach of the Irish Test side. I will not be controlling the ODI or T20I sides, but will be checking in on them. The updates will follow a simple log format and I'll keep things as brief as possible. Hope you enjoy!
