    Northants vs Yorkshire (A)

Prasanna had been called up by Sri Lanka so I swapped him for Wakely who had 4 star form.
Qualification was a long way off yet, we needed warwickshire to lose both game and we needed to win both!

We won the toss and I decided we should bat first.
Levi lasted 2 balls before departing, 2-1 from 0.3 overs!
Duckett only managed 6 today unfortunately. Cobb departed next over for 14 from 6. Score now 37-2 from 2.5 overs.
Withe was then out for 9 from 11. 58-4 from 5.4
Wakers was then out C+B Willey for 19. 98-5 from 10.4 overs.
Kleinveldt then went for 13, 122-6 from 13 overs.
Rossington made a great 77 before being out infront of the stumps from 44 balls. 160-7 from 17 overs.
Keogh made a quick 14 before getting himself out.
Steelbacks ended up 189-9 from our 20 overs.
Not a bad total I dont think.

    Not great for us.
Marsh finally departed for 95. 140-1 fom 14.3 overs now
Handscomb was out after 2 balls.
Crooky then sent Lyth back. Score now 142-3 from 15.1 overs.
Tattersall then went for 6 from 6. Score now 151-4 from 16.4 overs.
Keogh then claimed another wicket. Lees out now, things really starting to hot up now! 170-5 from 18.1 overs
Yorkshire needing 20 from 11 balls
Keoghs next ball send Rashid back to the pavillion.
    That brought Willey in!
2 Balls later Keogh got ANOTHER wicket!
What a final over, Run out off the last ball. Northants win by 2 runs!!!!!

Ultimately we needed about another 30 or 40 runs.
Ill take this result though, we are always classed as the underdogs, yet were one of, if not thee best domestic t20 team!!
Looking forward to my favorite part of the game, the signings!
Few unused players will probably make way this season, few will be kept at almost all cost!

                  SIGNINGS TIME!

                  W.DURSTON RETIRED!

Ill start with the players who are no longer at the club. There was some extremely tough decision! But considering that i'm only playing T20 it didnt matter about signing any other players .

                  OUT:-
                  Kleinveldt
                  Shamsi
                  Murphy
                  Prasanna
                  Sole
                  Zaib
                  White
                  Withe(Youth)
Law(Youth) he wanted 52,000 for someone who averaged 17 in first class cricket.

                  Now for the exciting part!
                  IN:-

                  Mitchell Starc - T20 only
                  Brendon McCullum - T20 only
                  Dale Steyn - Overseas
                  Tom Latham - Reserve

Didnt sign any domestic players as there was no money left after signing these players!!

Im looking forward to the first game of our new season!

Im hoping that with the squad like we have currently we should win it this year!

                  Happy ICC'ing!!!

FIRST GAME OF THE 2018 SEASON.
Northants vs Derbyshire again! Same as last season.
I had built myself up alot for this, we have a fantastic squad!

We won the toss and I decided to bat first.
McCullum and Duckett opening that batting, Henry to bowl the first ball.

First ball went for a single. First over went for 12!
Wow, next over went for 17!
                      3rd over went for 13!!
42-0 from 3 overs. Great start lads
We lost our first wicket in the 4th over. Duckett was LBW Henry for 36 from just 16 balls. Score 60-1 from 4.4 overs.
Unfortunately McCullum fell just before the powerplay for 28 from 15. score now 68-1 from 5.5 overs. Rossington and Levi now at the crease.
Rossington fell just after the halfway point 20 from 14. Levi was struggling the other end, but was still there. Playing and missing alot of balls. 99-3 the score at this point.
Crook then came in hit a 4 then was out next ball. 103-5 from 10.4 overs now.
Levi sprung into life in the 14th over, belting a 4 then a massive 6, but then departed caught behind for 27 from 27. 142-5 from 14.2 overs now
Keogh departed an over later, bowled by a peach from Milnes for a well crafted 28 from 18. 150-6 from 15.2 overs now. I really wanted us to reach 200 from this point!
Wakely and Marwood combining well in the 16th over scoring 15 from it, racing us along to 180-6 from 17 overs.
Wakely powering another 10 from the next over, taking us to 192-6 from 18 overs. Now on 35 from 12 balls.
End of the 19th over and the 200 was up, also had an alert that Wakely + Marwood had now put on 50 for the 7th wicket partnership that was a user record.
Just 1 ball left and Wakely is bowled by Viljoen for a fantastic 45 from 18 balls.
Steelbacks finishing on 209-7 from 20 overs. Which was another user record for the highest score!

It took Starc just 2 overs to get his first wicket. Godleman the man to fall LBW for 7 from 8. Derby 18-1 from 3 overs.
Next over and Sanderson removed Flint LBW, Derby scoring only 3 more runs since the last wicket fell.
In Starc's final over he sent Wilson back for 23 from 19 deliveries. Derby 46-3 from 6.3 overs.
Gleeson finally removed Madsen who was starting to look dangerous scoring 46 from 23 balls. Derby now 4 wickets down.
Smit lasted 2 balls before falling to Gleeson LBW. Derby now 99-5 from 10.5 overs.
Next over and Crook bowled Thakor. Derby now struggling needing 99 @ 12.3 runs an over with only 4 wickets remaining.
Gleeson then claimed Henry's wicket. Derby now 118-7 from 12.5 overs.
First ball of Gleeson's final over he picks up his 4th wicket, Milnes LBW for 4. Derby now 128-8 from 14.1 overs.
Keogh then sent back Harrison in his first over. Steelbacks just needing 1 wicket to complete the win.
Keogh then picked up his 2nd wicket Viljoen stumped for 3.
RESULT: NORTHANTS WIN BY 60 RUNS.

                        Northants vs Yorkshire
This was a game I really wanted to win!!
Id just noticed that Law the youth player I let go from last season had scored a staggering 872 from 9 games in first class cricket this year. Gulp!
Sheen had been promoted from the youth team, very aggressive all rounder who bowled RF!! Will certainly be giving him a go at some stage during this years T20.
I won the toss and batted first.

First over and Duckett was dropped by the wicket keeper on 3. Shaky start.
We recovered well, Duckett and McCullum putting on 47 runs before McCullum was bowled by last season's overseas bowler Shamsi for a well played 32 from 18 balls. We were 47-1 from 4.3 overs.
Levi came in and spooned his first ball to mid off, Golden duck. Levi struggling so far this year
Shamsi had really stung us that over! End of the powerplay and we were 57-2.
Rashid then bowled Rossington in the 7th over. 66-2 from 7.2 overs.
Crooks first ball he belted for 4. Halfway through our innings and we were 91-3, Duckett only 14 from his half century.
11th over and Crook took Shamsi to the cleaners. Scoring 15 from 5 balls, then Duckett grabing a 2 in the last ball. Score now 108-3 from 11 overs. I wanted us to push on again and reach over 200.
End of the 13th over and another expensive over for Yorkshire, Duckett and Crook had now put on 62 which was a user record. Duckett now 43 from 30 and Crook 40 from 22. Who would reach their 50 first? My money was on Duckett.
Duckett did indeed reach 50 first from 34 balls. Crook on 48 from 28 at the other end. Steelbacks now 148-3 from 15 overs. Great effort so far
Crook was so unlucky and fell LBW to a dodgy decision on 49 from 30. I decided to sent in Wakely who had score some really quick runs last game.
2 overs to go and we had 173 on the board, Duckett 26 away from his century.
Willey then claimed Duckett's valuable wicket for 75 from 48 balls. We were now 175-5 from 18.3 overs.
2nd ball of the last over and Keogh was bowled for a quick 12 from 4 balls.
Wakely was then dismissed with 2 balls to go and Gleeson came in and smacked a 4 then a single. Steelbacks ending up on 194-7 from 20 overs.

Lyth fell in the first over caught at mid on from Starc's bowling. Yorkshire 7-1 from 1 over.
Starc then trapped Lee's for 16.
Ballance then edged the 4th ball of Sanderson's 2nd over to Rossington, Yorkshire now 34-3 from 3.5 overs.
Powerplay completed and Yorkshire were 47-3.
Second ball of Sanderson's first over and he bowled Burke for 7 from 10. Yorkshire now 52-4 from 7.2 overs. Now needing 143 @ 11.2 runs an over
3 balls later and Sanderson also bowled De Bruyn for 16 from 14. De Bruyn only managing to score at over a run a ball because of a streaky edge 2 balls ago that went for 4!!
Rashid then smashed Keogh for 14 from his next over.
Gleeson bowled Rhodes for 4 from 6. Bringing in Willey. I needed to get both Rashid and Willey out quickly before they got Yorkshire back in the game.
I brought Starc on and he bowled Rashid!! Great news is he only scored 5 in the over too. Way below the 11 they need, end of the 11th over and Yorkshire were on 89-7.
13 overs passed before Yorkshire reached there 100! 103-7 from 13 overs. Willey and Hodd in.
3rd ball of Crook's 2nd over and Hodd was caught behind, bringing the start of the bowlers in for Yorkshire.
16 overs gone and Willey was still in Yorkshire now 134-8.
Next ball and Crook trapped Patterson infront of all 3! Plum LBW. Just 1 wicket to reach another crushing win!!!
Shamsi came in, was almost caught behind from his first ball, Belted his next ball for 6, got a single then his next delivery bowled him. 142 all out Yorkshire

                            Northants vs Durham (A)
Unchanged XI for us. No Jennings, Stokes or Collingwood for Durham!
Called tails and won, decided to bat first.

First ball of the match and McCullum was out caught behind, not a great start! Duckett did however manage to score 13 more from the over
Arshad then trapped Duckett for 16 from 6 balls. 20-2 from 1.5 overs.
Id decided to give Marwood a chance higher up the order, he was in with Rossington.
We reached the powerplay and were going well. 80-2 from 6 overs, Rosso on 44 from 21 balls and Marwood 20 from 8
Marwood unfortunately fell next over LBW to Coughlin, Score now 89-3 from 6.4 overs
Coughlin then got Levi the same way in the same ball in his next over! Rossington going well on the other end. Score 107-4 from 8.4 overs.
2 balls later and Rosso's innings was ended. Another LBW victim to Coughlin. Score 108-5 from 9 overs.
Crook then edged one of McCarthy's deliveries to the keeper for 7.
Next over was hurrendously bad for us, Coughlin claiming both Wakely and Gleeson LBW in consecutive balls, then 2 balls later dismissing Keogh too!!! Score 126-9 from 11.4 overs.
I decided to relax the batting a bit. Even if we only scored 4 or 5 an over that would be a competitive score.
Unfortunately that didnt work and yet again Coughlin was the man to dismiss Sanderson.
                            Leaving us 129 all out.
Oh dear. Not what i'd hoped for, luckily for us the pitch was clearly doing a bit. So hopefully we could use that to our advantage.

Durham's 3rd over and Poynter spooned one of Starc's deliveries to be Crook, falling for 7 from 6. Durham 17-1 from 2.2 overs.
2 balls later and Starc removed Pandey caught behind.
Starcs next over and he removed Clark's stumps. Durham now 41-3 from 4.4 overs.
7th over passed Durham now 57-3. I needed 4 quick wickets!
Crook's 2nd delivery removed Richardson, then in the next over Gleeson removed Butt. Durham now 68-5 from 9.8 overs.
Crook's next over and he trapped Coughlin LBW, very apt I thought!!
Unfortunately Harte played well for his 69 from 55 balls and seen it home for Durham.
Had we score the 190/200 I was expecting us to we would have won this. Middle order batsmen need some training I think!!

Unchanged XI just decided to promote Marwood up to 4.

Next ball and Read was out caught behind.
End of the powerplay and no more wickets had fell. Leics 40-2 from 6

Gleeson then bowled Dexter, then Keogh removed Castle next over and Wheeler in the next over. Leics now 148-7 from 16
Id not used my bowlers correctly and had to bowl Wakely!! Schoolboy error. He did however bowl Raine for 23, Leics 184-8 with 1 ball to go, Single coming from the last ball. Click image for larger version Name:	5th game 1st innings.png Views:	2 Size:	493.1 KB ID:	62170

McCullum reached his 100 from exactly 50 balls! What an innings! 164-2 from 15 overs, just 22 needed now for victory.
Marwood was then dismissed for 24 from 17 balls. Northants 176-3 from 16.4 overs just 10 required for victory.
McCullum made short work of the needed 10, finishing the match in the next over!
What an innings from McCullum 110 from 58 balls. We still had 2.2 overs left! Fantastic effort from all.

                                Northants vs Nottinghamshire (A)

One change for us, Wakely out and Sheen in. Sheen was the youth player who bowled RF.
We lost the toss and Nott's put us into bat.

Another good 1st over for us, scoring 16 from it.
2nd over wasnt so good, Duckett edging Faulkner to Read. Score 20-1 from 1.5 overs
Balls 2nd over went for 23. McCullum now 29 from 9 balls, our total score 44-1 from 3 overs.
Faulkner struck in his next over, removing Rosso for 2 from 3 caught at slip.
I decided to bring Levi in at 4 to hopefully combine well with McCullum! End of the 4th over and we were on 58-2.
Ball was still bowling somehow, having gone for 39 from 2 overs.
He did however dismiss McCullum from his first ball, that brought Sheen into bat who slapped his first ball for 4.
End of the powerplay and we were 72-3. In the 6th over Sheen was dismissed for 11 from 9.
End of the 7th over and we had 83 on the scoreboard.
Patel's first over and he bowled Levi who played a dreadful shot to the ball.
Halfway point and we were 106-5.
Mullaney then dismissed Crook for 11. Northants now 109-6.
Score moved onto 133-6 from 15 overs.
Marwood and Keogh had now put on 60, Marwood was just one away from his maiden T20 50!
End of the over and we had broke another all-time record. For a stand of 65 for the 7th wicket. Marwood bringing his 50 up!
Keogh was ran out from the last ball, we scored 181-7 from our 20 overs.
I thought this was a good score on a pitch that had alot to offer both spinners and seamers! Click image for larger version Name:	6th game 1st innings.png Views:	2 Size:	471.7 KB ID:	62218

Just the 4th ball of Nott's innings and Kenworthy was bowled by Starc.

Patel was now on 76 from 35 balls. He is so overpowered!
Gleeson dismissed Read for 8 from 9, but Patel was still in!
Patel had won it for Notts, hitting 121 from 53 balls. So overpowered, he is good inreal life but not that good!!
