Quick contract question

if I'm at the end of the first season and I want to terminate a players contract which is worth $20k with still 2 years remaining.

Now from what I understand I only will get $10k towards my budget will I get the remaining $10k at the end of the second season to be able to spend?

Can someone please explain how it works?

If I understand it correctly, you get $10k immediately, and then save the full $20k per annum for each year in the future.
