I’ve decided to do a story with Kent. They, along with Leicestershire are the runt of the litter at the moment in most competitions, this story will challenge me to my utmost. Here is a view of the squad as I start.
Openers
Daniel Bell-Drummond
Rob Key
Sam Northeast
Batsmen
Alex Blake
Fabian Cowdrey
Ben Harmison
Brendon Nash
Wicket Keepers
Sam Billings
Geraint Jones
All Rounders
Darren Stevens
Seamers
Adam Ball
Doug Bollinger (Overseas)
Mitch Claydon
Mark Davies
David Griffiths
Calum Haggett
Charlie Hartley
Matt Hunn
Robbie Joseph
Ivan Thomas
Spin Bowlers
Imran Qayyum
Adam Riley
James Tredwell
We seem to have surplus seamers which is always a bonuss although I don’t think the likes of Matt Hunn, Ivan Thomas Charlie Hartley or Calum Haggett will feature prominently in any teams. We need another batsman or two really because there is a bit of a dirth there and maybe an all-rounder. With that in mind I go to the transfer window and see who is up for grabs.
There are not many people to pick from but with an average of 25.6 and a price tag of only £19,000 I take a punt on Scotland batsman Josh Davey. Who seems like a bit of a bargain. Other than that I don’t take anyone as I don’t really have the funds and there is no-one sticking out. So into season 1.
