Really very annoying someone is doing purposely

The spam you are getting is created by a Black Hat SEO tool called "Xrumer".
Judging from the fact it has the ability to create profiles and then return to make posts it is Xrumer 7 Palladium - previous versions struggled to make more than profile links.
Akismet is the market leader anti spam add on and is available for vBulletin boards. The none commercial license is free and quite configurable.
(or straight to akismet.com) I use it extensively on my blog network as well as a few of my forums - it cuts out about 99% of inbound spam and produces few if any false positives.
Once your forum has been "scraped" you will be on many spammers lists as open target lists are widely shared. Aksimet should deal with the issue pretty well.
