hi i'm sure the majority of people that but this game each year have no real interest in the smaller cricketing nations such as ireland, holland, namibia, canada etc but i've always thought it would be a nice touch to be able to captain one of these sides and try to bring them up in the world of cricket. a little bit like taking over a lower league side in football manager.
i personally would love the opportunity to work with my country, i feel ireland are slowly moving up in the game and its a great thing to get people excited about the sport.
like i said- i'm sure i'm in the minority so i cant imagine anything being done about it but even so...

More like 0.2 % (or even less) but still a great idea.
Superstars exist, they break the mould, they are the players that excite the crowd and make the back pages. They are rare and special
To be realistic make that VERY rare.
Great ideas Muhammad

i'm new here and i really appreciate ICC as its the type of cricket game i've dreamt of,i'm more of managerial games addict,'09 should be great,i see admins have been working their socks off,but i think it could be even better, there are things that need to be more realistic
Just four questions, will the ICL players be involved in the game such as mohammad yousuf and abdul razzaq ?
Will the Under-19s and A teams be involved ?
will there be updates to stadiums such as attendances, graphics and a variety of grounds ?
Finally, will bowling speeds be included ?
I recommend match reports
For example,if a team wins by less than 10 runs or by 3 wickets, the report would be
Today's match went right down to the wire but England batted/bowled very well and a spirited performance in the field restricted the opposition.
If a team won by 50+ runs or by more than 3 wickets the report would be
Well, its a commanding win for England with bat and ball, the opposition lost early wickets and never could build any decent partnerships, the bowling was excellent today and wickets at regualar intervals were key.Last edited by shawndx; 06-14-2009, 01:51 PM.

I think the regen players generation and improvement should be of 3 types
1)Extra ordinary growth (High skill points after every week or so)
2)Normal growth (Normal skill points)
1)Small growth (Small skill points)
More over the growth period should be of 3 types
1) Long period (for 8 years)
2) Normal period (5 years)
3)Short period (3 years)
So for instance if AI generate a player with 18 years of age and with SMALL GROWTH but with LONG PERIOD he will continue to improve but by small amount till the age of 26.
2nd case
A 22 year old regen player with EXTRA ORDINARY growth but for SHORT PERIOD.
3rd case
A 20 year old player with EXTRA ORDINARY growth and for LONG PERIOD (the probability for such players must not be greater than 5%)
In this way different players will grow differently which will add dynamism to the game.
More over the EXTRA ORDINARY growth and SHORT PERIOD can be attached to most Pakistani and Indian players.

Uh oh - I feel a jog down memory lane.
In the mid 80's Worcestershire signed David M Smith from Surrey. 18 months later Hickey came along (Lord Hick of Worcester...Early Hick of the Western Shire or Hail Hick the mighty...as we like to call him)
Anyway, Smithy wanted to bat 4, so Hickey (who was batting 4 at the time - behind Dipak Patel..if you could believe it) said ok.
Hick went 3 (and stayed for the next 25 years) Smith went 4 and Patel went 5 (not before running out Collis King and losing Worcester a Nat West semi in the process).
Smith had a hard time at 4. Decided he didn't like it. Asked Hick for the number 3 spot back. Phil Neale (My old Russian teacher, and still one of Englands managers - and has been for flipping years) told Smith to "take a hike".
Smith left at the end of that season ('89) Despite being picked for the '89 - '90 England tour to WI (where he understudied Gooch)
He claimed he was off to start a decorating company, and had had enough of cricket.
Next year he was playng for Sussex and never got a whiff of England again.
All because he couldn't bat where he wanted to....
(Ricky Elcock went on that tour as well, broke down...Worcester players are jinxed)

I can see many of these suggestions leading to bugs and being prohibitive on the basis of cost. I would like to the following simple things added:
1 - Batsmen's favourite batting position. Right now, we have openers and then middle order. But in reality, we have players who dont like to play at 3. Or openers who can bat easily at 5 or 6. It would be nice if players had a preference.
2 - simple stats - a rating out of 20 for: aggressive batting, defensiver batting, orthodox batting. And the same for bowling. Nothing more complex than that.

My Features List
I have only read through half of the numerous posts on the forum, mainly due to the fact that i got bored after half-way. Some of the ideas have caused skepticism, the editor springs to mind, some have been though too complicated to integrate, for example the new rain rules. ICC is a long running game series, i remember buying the first one, eleven years ago, and i still play it to this day. In my opinion there has not been enough development during these eleven years, I'm sorry Chris but this is my opinion I'm sure it isn't shared by the masses but in my opinion it's the truth. The fact that i prefer playing the first ICC to 08 is testament to that. I can understand that the game is produced on a low budget, and unfortunately that shows through in some of the game play. Don't get me wrong its a great game, but i get the feeling it could be so much more. Look at how far football manager has progressed in the last ten years, i know football has a much bigger fan base than cricket, and the games sales reflect that, however it's not just football fans who play football manager. To increase sales you need to create a game that isn't just for the hardcore cricket enthusiasts.
There are various ways to achieve this:
-Incorporate Visible and Progressive Player Stats
This is one of the points that has caused controversy however in my opinion it is essential for a modern simulation game, it doesn't have to be a full 30 stat rundown at first just a few basic stats, Pace, accuracy, seam position, stamina, height, preferred delivery's, i.e out-swinger, yorker, bouncer, Spin (for spin bowlers), and swing, for the bowlers. Batting is admittedly more complicated perhaps front foot defensive technique, back foot defensive technique, off side front foot technique back foot off side technique ect, maybe a preferred hit zone and some special shots like KP's baseball slog, and height. Height is very important in cricket how can you expect a five foot bowler to bowl a really cracking bouncer at a six foot batsman? It needs to be Incorporated. I understand that all this would be quite a big transistion and would perhaps take a couple of years to fully work into the game, but it would be worth it.
-An Up-To-Date Comprehensive Coaching and Training system
It has been brought up in previous posts that training is a very important part of cricket, this needs to be the case in ICC. Specific coaches for batting, bowling, fielding even fitness, options to improve seinior and youth training facilities. The adition of Scouts to assess the talent of local leagues and recomend youth players. All this should be incorperated with the stats to allow players to track player development throughout their careers, lets face it doing things on averages and played and missed isn't quite as appealing as watching a players stats impove as they rise through the ranks.
-A New Match Engine
Now not to knock the old one it's good, but it could be better, photo realistic grounds, watching covers come on when it rains, better motion capture for batting and bowling actions are just a few of the things that could help.
-A Data Editor
A lot of keys have been hammered about this particular subject and various arguments have been put forward. In my opinion ICC should have a data editor, it will improve long term playability, and allow some of the hardcore players to create new challenges. The main arguments against are concerning the effect on online play, there must be a way to make sure that people can only use the original database online. The other is saying it will ruin the game for people, only for the people who want to ruin it by creating super teams ect, thats their choice. I still play ICC 1 because i can edit the DB with ICEd and keep giving myself fresh challenges. Anyway I have allways wanted to be in ICC and im sure other people feel the same an editor would allow us to achieve this. The other upside is keeping the database up-to-date and all the players with correct characteristics ect.
The problem with a lot of this is that the developers would basicly have to start a fresh and write the game from scratch. Trying to incorperate these kind of changes into the old code would take a while and trying to get the game to seamlessly proccess and manage all the new data might require as much testing as a new release would, i don't know however because i am not an expert. This comes down to cost, starting from scratch costs money, ICC being made on the tight budget it is, these ideas may forever stay a fantasy.

Ipl!!!!
Hi, I thinl adding an IPL league and Champions League will give you a very heathy market base in India and IPL loving nations too.
I think it we need an option for variations of the balls in an over like doosra , slower ball, arm ball etc which are the important facet of bowling. Being a coder myself i know how much complexity it would bring about in design. But efforts must be put in to market the product and compete!!!
