4. Batting
Batsmen automatically have the highest aggression level for a free hit.
The possibility to instruct batsmen to take quick singles or don’t take risky singles.
When you start your second innings, you should be able to change your opening batsmen.
More balls should be left by the batsman and go through to the wicket keeper.
Option for batting player to denote minimum number of runs required from a ball - useful at end of one day game where, e.g., only 6 runs will do, not just an aggressive 4.
Batsmen should have ODIs & T20s strike rates recorded.
There should be higher scores in T20s, I have never seen a total of 200 in ICC 2008 and I am in season 2026.

3. Match
Far less penalty for using Auto-Play.
The ability to declare during intervals, not just during sessions.
Highlights of the match after match.
Raining in ODIs & T20s.
A player with a minor injury should be able to come later on during the innings and not be ruled out for the whole innings.

2. Management
Scouts to look for new or improving players & control over 2nd XI.
Quit international or county job at any time.
Have a vice captain.
Ability to play a career as Kenya, Scotland or other non test playing nations.
Ability to skip the rest of a match once the match has been started.
Ability to auto-play a whole season if you are going through a rebuilding stage and you need to get to the transfers!
Ground attendance and revenue from tickets and more business features.
A way of increasing the ground facilities e.g. build nets or more stands for crowds to increase sales.
Separate One Day/Test touring squads.
Replace overseas player when injured or international duty & Ability to sign seperate overseas player for T20s only.
Terminate contracts at any time.
Newspaper showing flash headlines of the matches held on the previous day just like a sports newspaper.
After each season a summery of the performance of the team under the captain i.e. wins, loss %, advice and remarks from the management for the captain.
When renewing/terminating contracts at the end of the season, you should be able to see who is available before having to sort out your existing players.
Players should carry on until they are about 40, at the moment, all players tend to retire at the age of about 35-37. That means that players like Alec Stewart are only in the game for one season. Maybe it should be dependant on their recent form. A player playing well will continue whereas one playing badly may pack it in and retire.
Pre-season tours, friendlies & training - be able to assign coaching time to particular attributes of a player which will help them improve.

1. General
Editor that allows you to alter player skills to keep details upto date.
Far more records and statistics like Highest Innings, Lowest Innings, Highest Score, Best Bowling, etc. recorded like Cricket Coach.
IPL, ICL, Champions League, T20 World Cup, U19 World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy, Asia Cup.
Domestic Cricket for other nations.
Allow Domestic & International Batting, Bowling, Fielding & Team Records.
Players announced their retirement at the beginning of the season.
Players statistics after their retirements.
Hall of fame for retired players.
County player of the year & season awards.
Total number of MoM Awards in Career statistics.
Each player should have a history saying what team he was in what season. It would be useful to know more than his 2 previous seasons e.g. you could tell a downward trend in ability with older and improvement in youth players.
Club information updated to reflect the performance of the user as he wins trophies.
Career records tracking. e.g. most runs for career per county team or county cricket, international cricket etc. So after ten seasons or so, you can begin to see who were the greats, etc.
One Day & T20s stats & records for domestic and international teams.
Domestic player ranking/ ratings.

Updates
i havent yet tried cricket captain 08' i am still playing cricket captain 3. so if i ask for an update that is in 08 sorry.
1- Youth scouts/reports
2- 12th man, if you get a midgame injury you have a 12th man not a "sub" and if your keeper gets injured mid-match you can choose you replacement keeper. in cc3 i had 2 keepers in my team one as a batsmen. by keeper got injured and the computer a batsmen as the keeper instead of the recognised keeper.
3- emails. messages from people like scouts(of other county teams whos hot whos not), youth scouts (possible upandcoming superstars). even emails from players.
4- updates of other team injuries. in NBA2k3 there is a roster of all injured player but it doesn't show their injury or how long they are out for.
5- scout detailing, gives you info on key players like if they are vulrable to short balls or yorkers. or bowlers that get leg side if targeted.
6- ability to get bowlers to put in 1 short ball an over
7- better stats of your own player/squad. batting stats - stuff like leg/off-side runs, edges, times dropped, how outs like 3xBowled 2xCaught 4xLBW, Bowling stats like- how wkts taken 24xbowled 3xStumped 5xLBW, amount of maidens,
8- in game stats like- pitch maps for bowlers. like they have on TV that show boundry balls, wkt balls, and balls to left/right handers.
all this and others would be great.
ohh and dont have the player abilities but scout reports like
R Key- plays aggresive offside, vulrable to yorker, tries to hit over mid off alot.
M Saggers- Bowls line and length, good short ball. attacks pads.

If someone is injured, could there be an option to send them in when chasing a total, like in real life, when batsman go out at number 11 even though they are injured to try to reach the total.

There should be a captaincy record too in the player profile column i.e.played ,won, lost as captain ...so that we can make out under whose leadership the team do well....

Dear Chris Child,
There are have been a lots of suggestions this thread........i have read all of them
and have summarissed in three points only
1)There is a definite need of introducing other domestic leagues. There are thousands of ICC lovers in the other parts of the world other than England,so you should think of all of them too.May be u can go step-by-step,like including Australian domestic cricket in ICC 2009...and of another country in the next version. This would definitely helf i think & all the lovers including me will be satisfied.
2)There has been a lot of debate ragarding the editor.I think you should build a team editor that modifies the teams and the squads so that we can create our own country's domestic teams ourselves. For example, ihave edited ICC 2002 and replaced the county sides with IPL & ICL sides using the magpie editor and i am really enjoying playing. You were saying that it would ruin the game realism , i think it would effect that user only who edits...rather than the all.
3)And still if you don'y agree for the editor, there another idea, you can make editors for the previous versions like ICC 2005,ICC 2006 and ICC 3......and this way the onlines games don't get affected(if i am right).
I hope you consider my points
Regards
Ankur Lathwal

You can still save it during the game, but autosave would slow the game down. Just click save and exit, but click the option below save & exit when it comes up with the options.

Is it possible to auto save the game after every ball or over instead of every match. Is it not possible than after every inning of the match.

COuple more big issues.
1) Player development.
Currently development is too predictable and not really accurate. Others have said over the years that players peak at ~27, but I haven't experienced this. I find that batsmen have their best statistical years between 30-35. Then there is a huge drop off from 35+. I think player development is too important to overlook. I'd like to see this based on historical data.
2) Injuries.
Bowlers should get injured a lot more than batsmen. Fast bowlers especially should have season and career ending injuries, as well as persistent and reoccuring ones (Shane Bond anyone?). Like player development, this should be based on some real data.
3) Fatigue
Besides in game fatigue, there should be a persistent fatigue level. Players get injured more often when fatigued. And you can't run your bowlers into the ground without consequences.

how about being able to see One Day or ODI records in team details as well as FC/Test and also having a records screen like the world ratings screen. You could have Test Runs, Centuries, Matches, Wickets, Best bowling innings, best bowling match, same for First Class, and for One Day/ODI same but just best bowling instead of match and innings.

Icc 2009
I have been playing this game from its inception and I like this game and recommend it to all my freinds, as other games have improved icc has gotten from better to worst. There are no new features few new players and database is all wrong. It is very dissappointing man.
When the game starts ajantha mendis hasnt played a match when in real life he was a legend.
Few features like the ability to sort data are absent from icc 08 which were present in past and were really helpful so have them in 2009.
The ability to save team selection as *.sel is also absent have it in 2009.
And please make a editor for 2009.
There are no online players ever why whats wrong.
And why can we have only one overseas player when the real teams have two.
So please make 2009 a worthwhile experience otherwise its not worth it just release a database update.
Love
Sandy bravo

A few more suggestions.
1) Different player rating display.
I know there is are arguments for or against showing actual player skill ratings in the game. I think there is a good middle ground: Give us the option, and even with tiers or ratings. For example:
Assume 'actual' ratings is 100. This is whatever scale the game uses to calculate the results.
Allow us to display
1-100 scale
1-20 scale
1-10
1-5 stars
None
This is a super simple way to program difficulty levels into the game.
2) Player potential ratings
I like the idea of showing current and potential ratings of players. This is useful in evaluating young talent. Obviously complete precision takes the fun out, but a simple 1-5 type scale (or a tied display system like #1) would work.
3) Scouting system. Instead of showing actual ratings, teams pay a scout who evaluate the skills all players. Scouting is never 100% accurate (and accuracy can depend on scout's skill). This brings a degree of doubt and variability in the game.

Forgive me for labouring the point, but most of all i would like to see a database at the start of the 09 season which is in date at......shock horror......the start of the 09 season!
