  • Cricket Captain 2024 Release date and features

Cricket Captain 2024 releases on Steam on June 6th. iOS, Android and Mac will release the week after that. We're aiming for Switch to release in July.

There are also PlayStation and Xbox versions in development for release later in the year.

Build your own dream team in Cricket Captain 2024. The 20 Over World Cup takes centre stage at the start of the 2024 season and, with our Score Predictor making its debut, you can manage run chases and set targets with a clear indication of expectations for the match conditions. With feedback from last year’s game, and simulating thousands of matches from every situation, we have rebalanced scoring rates across the board, with focus on both First Class and limited over scoring rates and AI. Daniel Norcross brings his inimitable style to the commentary box this year, for the first time on Cricket Captain.

Cricket Captain 2024 expands our database once again, including honours boards showing every international century and five-wicket hall across all formats at every ground. With improved filters and viewing options for the vast array of statistics accessible through the game, picking your squads and accessing records is more intuitive and responsive.

All domestic systems have been updated to include the latest developments in Pakistan, West Indies and around the world.

    Key features for 2024 include:
    - Commentary: new commentary from Daniel Norcross.
    - Score Predictor: in-match score and win predictor.
    - Honours Boards: every international 5 wicket haul or century, in all 3 match types.
    - Match Engine: improved following user feedback and simulations.
    - Updated International Team Rankings: calculated from last 4 years results.
    - New Kits: updated international kits.
    - International Player Rankings: updated with historical data.
    - Asia Trophy: play in ODI and 20 Over International tournaments.
    - Updated Pakistan Domestic System: Eight new teams.
    - Domestic System Updates: all systems updated to latest rules and formats.
    - Improved Player Generation: rebalanced with focus on player aggression.
    - Test Championship: updated for the 2024 season.
    - Tournament Modes: play in stand-alone One Day, Asia Trophy or 20 Over World Cups. Create your own World XIs, All-Time Great and Custom Match Series.
    - Phone Interface: improved screen layout with filters visible on stats screens.

Complete Stats Update for the 2024 Season:
    - Updated player database with over 7,500 players.
    - Updated historical keeper and outfield stats.
    - Updated versus, ground and team records with partnerships, bowling and batting records.
    - Updated domestic squads for all 146 playable domestic teams.
    - Updated recent series stats for all players.
    - Updated real world player form for Domestic and International

Great work Sureshot looking forward to the new version.

Any option to change the batting position of batsman bowling order of bowlers? Also, is this problem with the font kerning ever be solved?

      HI ruby23

Fonts are unlikely to be solved in the near future, the fonts system isn't our code so to fix it we have to reverse engineer it. I've looked at the fonts code a few times, it's not the cleanest system to use.

Can you clarify what you mean by? "Any option to change the batting position of batsman bowling order of bowlers?"

For example, we may have a middle order batsman in 2024 becoming an opening batsman in 2025 (very common and difficulty to judge in real life scenarios).

Similarly, a bowler who's bowling first change in 2024, may either become an opening bowler in 2025 or bowl occasionally in 2026 (real life situation).

Like how we edit names, we could have an option to change these attributes also. Will make the game more enjoyable and save the Developers the trouble of constantly making database changes after release of the game.

The addition of the score-predictor and honour boards along with fresh comms is very unexpected. If the balance changes work out to be good, this may be the most worthwhile upgrade we've had for CC in a long time. Is the new commentary an overhaul or will it be added alongside the old commentary?

          Looking forward to the release!

The commentary is a complete replacement.

The Score predictor has been massive in allowing Chris to rebalance the match engine, there have been some important changes here. It also helps as a gameplay function in setting/chasing targets.

Would be definitely interested in how these changes affect the online game, a section I look most forward to. Some new changes, totally unexpected, hope the developers do not hike up the price too much from last version.

Would be definitely interested in listening to the new commentary, though I personally deselect that option before I begin...

Any chance we can get games record holder for domestic competitions added in the future.

County is one example, where we have historical and current record holders, be great to have games records for 1st Class, ODI and T20.

Looks promising. I had a 2023 gripe on Pakistan regens especially in the spin bowling and all rounder department, hoping over the natural course of the game cycle this is ironed out.

Will probably need to play a few more hours to really get a feel but that was my initial reaction having played for a couple hours. I feel last year’s match engine was more realistic in the sense that you can continue going hard from ball one having lost a wicket whereas so far playing cc24 I've found you can’t do that. Also feel its harder to post big scores in this year’s version than it was in cc23.

The Bazball-inspired changes that were introduced in cc23 really elevated the game i felt, whereas playing cc24 i feel these changes have been toned down.

Also feel we could have done with a colour scheme change to the menu just to freshen things up a bit.

Sureshot Is there a way to view honours boards of international/away grounds? For example, if I scored a 100 in an away series or World Cup, can I view that 100?

Could you also please explain changes in how you've improved filters and viewing options for stats?
