I picked up CC19 after not playing any version for what must be 20 years or so. I have to say I’ve not played or watched much cricket since then either but I got the urge to see how this game is now.

I went with Yorkshire and struggled early on, especially with the One Day and 20 over formats - I’d regularly finish last in those. With the County Championship I got relegated immediately but was able to gain promotion back up after a couple of seasons. Since then I’ve had a few more relegations and promotions, finished as high as 3rd but not won the thing, despite playing up to 2030.

i’ve spent most of that time testing things and figuring stuff out and now feel more comfortable in all 3 formats (I can now regularly reach the knockout stages of both the short formats but also haven’t managed a win in those).

With most starting players now retired or retiring I’m at the point where the game is almost all regens, so I’m not sure how much further I’ll go with this save. If a new patch is coming I might wind things down and start afresh when that does arrive with what I’ve learnt.

Sickest match ever after first test was drawn. I had four catches dropped in the fourth innings. Sam Curran got 10 wickets and 100 but still did not get MOM.

I'm currently into my 5th season at Gloucestershire. Finally secured promotion to D1 last season after a much more aggressive batting strategy centred on the runs of Janneman Malan, Chris Dent (who left for Surrey but is now back), James Bracey who finally wrested the gloves from Roderick, Tom Abell who we snatched from Somerset and Rilee Roussouw. Consistently using a four man pace attack of Higgins, Payne, Taylor and Tom Helm who have all been superb. The search for a spinner is ongoing though.

We've also won 13 of 14 Vitality Blast t20 games in both of the previous seasons finally securing the title last season after falling in the final the year before.

The game is still full of flaws

Too many county players getting dismissed for 99, and too many batting collapses chasing down small targets to win.

I was cruising at 2-59 chasing 133 to win, and i got dismissed for 102. Freaking garbage.

Shadab Khan just had an unbelievable season for me. The highlight must be 86 ODI wickets in a calendar year - surely a record?

Got 29 off one over in a T20I. He was on debut and only 7 aggression. He ended up with 114*.

Most exciting game in the sub-continent that I've played on this game so far! Seems that Jimmy can only do the business once...

In 2 1/2 years since I took over Pakistan captaincy I have not lost a test. This is business as usual. Still waiting to play the final against South Africa which could present my first challenge.
