  • Five things cc fans want from cc19!

I have analyzed online suggestions for CC19 from CC fans and have found five reoccurring things that CC fans would like to see changed for the CC19 version.

In September we received the amazing news from Sureshot that the development team have secured more funds to invest back into the CC series!

In the past CC developers have been accused of not listening to fans, so upon the release of CC19 in ~one months time we will be able to see if these accusations are founded or not!

We all play CC for different reasons. To use our favorite players, to go back in time, to try and be #1, because we are addicted and many more!

However, collectively, this is what we the fans have asked the CC developers to improve for CC2019!

    1. Gameplay Graphics
We are sick of been constantly reminded of how crappy 90's graphics were!

The inaugural CC version came out at about the same time that the Snake game did for mobile phones.

We have seen mobile gaming develop beyond our wildest imaginations since then. Sadly our favorite cricket sim is still running the same old goofy graphics.

    2. Pitch Conditions
These have also not changed since the inaugural version!

Why do pitches only ever get worse to bat on in the game? Where are the green seamers? Why does cloud cover make such a marked difference?

Whenever a pitch has very good wear the AI leaves out all specialist spinners and plays four seamers. This needs an extra layer of complexity.

    3. Contracts
The big issue fans have with this is mainly around the overseas signings. Why do we have so many foreign club cricketers available to sign?

Where are the big name players? And when they are there, why are our budgets so small that no team cannot afford them?

Why only 1-3 year deals? No player poaching? More complex negotiations? Mid-season signings and replacements? What does youth team budget even do?

    4.World Ratings
This has not changed since the inaugural version either, yet the real-life version changed way back in 2003.

Just a simple weighted version for teams would be great. Also please include a history of world cup winners so we do not have to wait until the next one to see them!

With individual ratings, how about linking it to the player profiles? A notification when one of our players reaches the top ten?

    5. International Scheduling
This is a big one for fans. Us experienced players want to play as minnows and take them to #1. But we only have two/three one/two test series a year.

We need a tour creator or something, perhaps even randomize it if nothing else? India v Pakistan, Ireland v England five test series anyone?

Also for our historical players, why can they not start a career mode from a classic era using their favorite players?

    Honorable Mentions:

    International Squad Replacements
A player in our tour party gets injured, can we call up a replacement? Not at the moment.

    AI Selections
The AI has secret insight into inbuilt ratings and selects based on this, but we cannot so this is unfair. Can the AI select on merit/form instead?

    AI Bowler Use
The AI underbowls third seamer/second spinner and never opens with a spinner. OD opening bowlers bowl nine overs in a row no matter how badly. The AI picks only four bowlers in FC games and only five bowlers in limited overs. Why?

    Training
We want more feedback on what training it doing! Presently training players seems like a lot of effort for nothing! Perhaps an assistant coach?

    Player Stats
CC fans want more individual stats for players!

    Regeneration Domination
Fans want to see real life players grow and dominate - not made up players! Please significantly upskill all young real-life players!

A tour creator is what we need definitely. I got bored of playing so many t20 internationals, i want to be able to create my own 3/5/7 match ODI series. So many people have been asking for a tour creator for years and years now, surely it cant be that difficult to include in the game?

New graphics for a worldcup edition would be sweet alongside detailed training and its impact.

What is the expected release date for CC2019?

Of all the talk of editors why not just a minor one that can permit us to rename the different leagues and teams that now are "made up" thanks to licenses. That can't be too much to ask, and it will surely not brake any copyright laws.

              Re: Release Date

I think that they said something along the lines of... "... in time for the World Cup...".

In the upcoming One-Day World Cup it would have been great to get a shot of playing past ODI World Cups with those teams and players that really played. Perhaps since the start of this century, 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015. A bit like playing some old Test Matches this could probably be possible with not too big fix in the new 2019 version.

Looks like most players are already in the database, so perhaps only some minor nations setups needed to be added and adjusted.
IMHO think that would just as great as playing some yesterdays great Test Series.

Who knows some might win the Cup with England given some extra shot at these gone years .

I'd accept the option to have dots rather than the current graphics. They are so bad they actually take me out of the moment. I'd rather see dots (something like the field editor) at least then my imagination can work - coupled with the ability to import player portraits (I know the game can't come included with any... ) would make it quite a bit more immersive.

More stats - and more export of the stats the game already creates. The ability to sim for periods of time etc. For instance the game does over by over analysis, counts dot balls and does shot wheels. Let's have them exportable

CC sits in the middle ground. It doesn't have much of a meta game, and never has, but it also seems really reluctant to lean into the simming / strategy side of gameplay.
As a tactical ball by ball game it's great, but great in much the same way as it was in 1998.
The match engine is improved. I used to be able to exploit it mercilessly. It's pretty good given the number of variables it handles and the scope of the game now.
But in terms of gameplay nothing has been added. The actual gameplay - what the player does in a game and between games is the same as it was 20 years ago.

Year after year these forums are asking for one of two things in general

                  1) Some meta game (training, staff, second eleven, sponsorship, ground improvements, organise tours - all that kind of thing)
                  2) Ok, so you aren't that kind of game, so how about some stats. The game creates them, you can see them in the match engine as you play. Where do they go? Why are most of them lost after a game, after a season. The game creates a shot wagon wheel - then it's gone. The game creates a ball by ball for every match - then its gone. Partnerships, scoring rates, dot balls everything really. It's all there, in the game. then at the end of a match or the end of a season. It's lost. Even the scorecard export is minimal no balls faced or 4's or 6's. Just the bare bones

There is room for a cricket game with a meta - and/or a cricket game to appeal to stat heads.
After 21 years CC should probably have progressed into at least one of these areas. It's an old criticism of the franchise, but that doesn't make it less true. It feels very much like the same game over and again
The continued lack of stats in ICC is not so much the elephant in the room - as the Brontosaurus in the bathtub.

Best addition to cc19 would be player attributes, there is currently no real way to distinguish a player except international form or form in county cricket.

Rate batsman from 1-20 for every original training criteria:
General Technique, Off Side Shots, Leg Side Shots, Spin Bowling, Fast Bowling, Front Foot Technique, Back Foot Technique, Defensive Technique, Aggressive Shots, Opener, Middle Order

Rate bowlers from 1-20 for every original training criteria:
General Technique, Defensive Bowling, Aggressive Bowling, Defensive OD Bowling, Aggressive OD Bowling

Rate fielders from 1-20 from every original training criteria:
                    Ground Fielding, Catching/Keeping

This would be a great upgrade as it will benefit many aspects of the game. You could now determine whether all players are good enough and where batsmen should play in your team and if bowlers suit your fields and where fielders should be positioned based on catching ability.

What I read it's still a problem with T20 format. On the little I played I find that the problem in that is actually the batting. In the last overs even putting batters on full agg still show up many dot-balls and single runs. Very seldom one see that extra run by batsmen that in the end could be crucial. Batters should be increased in the last few overs IMHO. One could mess with bowling and field settings but batsmen is only to put on full aggr. Then just watch them play as in a FC format. Very seldom, even in games one don't play, one see a flurry of 4-6 runs in same over. And yes I do mean that even Ave-Aggr batsmen do fiddle around the stumps. I can understand Very Def ones, but still if chasing a score they too should go all out if I say Max Aggr.

Watching a lot of IPL games and they go ballistic in the last overs even on the first toss if they just replaced another batsman.
Well I think I join the cry of something has to be made on T20 format, espcially in the death overs.

It's been long maintained that ratings of players will never be implemented into the game. In the eyes of the devs, judging a player's skill based on their 2nd XI, county/domestic cricket and international performances is a part of the game and replicates real life managing where people obviously don't have literal ratings of the people in their squad.

Here is what I would like to be implemented into Cricket Captain:

                          - Improve the simulation experience

Especially in domestic career modes, seasons can very much drag on. And besides this, there are just times when I simply feel like simming through a series or two so I can get to a long awaited World Cup competition or a series against a team I'm looking forward to. But unfortunately the simming experience is pretty dreadful. You end up leaving it completely up to the hands of the AI to decide what to do. I want to be deciding the general order I want bowlers bowling in, the 4-6 main bowlers who should be bowling the bulk of the bowlers (and no, I don't want a pure batsmen bowling ahead of someone who is literally a tailender picked for bowling), the batsmen I want to have the attacking roles in the team and the batsmen I want to be trying to play through the innings, the death bowlers of my team, etc etc. There are so many ways the simming experience can be improved.

                          - Significantly increase current real life youth player skills

This is something I've asked for since as long as I can remember. Almost all fringe team youth players are severely underrated and get spend their careers never improving and ultimately never getting picked. Compare this to the AI generated youth players who can get picked for England after 10 county games. Just upskill almost all of the youth players in the county setup (and the rest of the other countries) so that at least some of these youth players can have a future in the game (and even get into their respective international teams maybe!).

                          - Allow us to 'edit' players' skills before beginning a career mode

This can easily be done in a way that still allows you to maintain the integrity of the hidden rating system. Simply allow us to increase or decrease a player's batting, bowling and fielding skill by whatever factor we want. This would allow us to tune players according to the skill we believe they should have. It can be made such that if we do edit a player's skill, that career won't be eligible for online play. This future would reduce the constant demand for database updates. A legitimate fear you may have in implementing this feature is that each iteration of the game is construed by some as database updates. But I believe that the fact that new players are added into the game each year, some small features added as well as new leagues and fixture lists mean people will still come back to the game each year.

                          - Allow us the option to actually manage 2nd XI teams (or at least see the scorecards of the games) and International A teams

This would greatly improve how immersive the game is. Being able to actually see how players in our squads are doing against which opposition for 2nd XIs would greatly help us to pick players based on their 2nd XI performances. And having International A team matches would be such a great addition. It would allow us to test domestic players at a level that is a step above domestic cricket and would remove the need for us to trial players straight into international matches on the back of solid domestic performances. I end up having to trial countless players because so many have very solid domestic averages and there's not many ways to judge who is better than who.

                          - Add the left-arm chinaman (left-arm legspin) action to the game

Currently all left- arm legspinners have the action of a left-arm offspinner and for me breaks the immersion of the game when I see someone like Kuldeep Yadav bowling offspinners.

Besides these, there are countless other features I can think of mentioning, but the above seem the most realistic and useful features to be focusing on.

Ok, fair enough, but there still needs to be some sort of scouting system then. At the moment, getting the right player is basically down to luck: a domestic average difference of 40 to 45 does not necessarily mean the latter is better, just that the former is in slightly worse form. This links into the idea of awards being in the game: have both international and county cricket awards for player of the year, young player of the year and team of the year. This will enable a better reflection of who you should call up for selection.

I know this might be a tall order, but when CC2019 hit the market I think many like to start "saves" into the future. With the upcoming 2020-22 ICC Cricket Cup Suer League it's tempting to hope that such a setup is included. All schedules and such are already fixed I understand and having any idea of playing an Interntional campaign onwards in years feels a bit sad without this new League in place and ready to start your 2nd year in playing CC2019. I understand it will be a highlite in CC2020, but that will temp me and perhaps many other to wait for CC2020, which would be sad.

In my book it can't be too hard to make this a big new feature in CC2019 for future playing.
