Yeah that's the thing. I'm not a huge fan of Wade personally. Okay with the bat but he's garbage with the gloves. The downside of that tour being when it is, I have absolutely no run of form to select from, so it doesn't leave me with a lot of room to move. So I went against my own thoughts, and got what I deserved in terms of a keeper. Live and learn.

FIFTH ODI REVIEW AND SERIES REVIEWED

Well Moeen Ali made runs again, there's a shock. Matthew Wade put him down in the first over, an absolute sitter and he isn't likely to represent Australia again to be honest. Put down a few chances throughout the series and offered very little in the way of runs. Mitchell Starc put the drop behind him and went on to take 5-44 for the match, with Josh Hazlewood again acting as a fantastic foil. I think we've settled on the opening duo going forward. Shaun Marsh (97) and Aaron Finch (80) put on 154 together and from there, even a disgraceful middle order collapse couldn't save England.

So, even with three walk-up best XI players in the side we managed to swat away the English. Australia won the series 5-0 in the end, the early somewhat lucky wins proved to be the catalyst as England fell away dramatically towards the end. Things are not looking good for them, still losing to a side without captain Steve Smith and fast bowling weapon Mitchell Johnson.

FOURTH ODI REVIEW + FIFTH ODI NEWS

Well it looks like the combination of Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch works well. It might be worth persisting with too, as it was a better partnership than any of the three matches with Aaron Finch and David Warner put together. Mr. Consistent Steve Smith again got himself to 50 and the rest of the lads contributed okay. Shaun Marsh was fantastic in his return to the ODI setup with a nice 62. That was easily the best we've bowled for this ODI series. Josh Hazlewood struck in his first over and went on to take 3-36. Mitchell Starc set himself for some tail wickets and finished strongly taking all three in his final over.

I know I said this before game four but we'll make some changes now. Given I only have four reserve players it's hard to get the balance right but given it's the final game, two key players will sit the final game out. Just who will they be?

THIRD ODI REVIEW + FOURTH ODI NEWS

That middle order though. Honestly thank the heavens for Steve Smith, without him I feel like I'd be down 2-1 right now and in deep trouble. We bowled really well. Josh Hazlewood kept things really tight and Mitchell Johnson destroyed everything in sight taking 5/52. I was really impressed with all the bowlers, everyone did a job and handled it well. We batted poorly and deserved to collapse. When your second best scorer is 22 from your number seven you can see there are problems, and it's not good enough to be brutally honest. As mentioned about without Steve Smith's 120 we lose that match by a minimum of 100 runs, probably more.

With the series wrapped up and several players out of form, changes will be made going into game four. How many remains to be seen.

Gee whiz the side is riding their luck a bit! Admittedly our bowlers aren't in great touch, but the pitches have been standard roads so far, hasn't really provided me with a great deal of chances. Still, winners are grinners I guess. We were a fair bit off the RRR for chunks to tell you the truth. Within touch throughout, but without the 20-30 + 40-50 over blocks we wouldn't have had a chance. No idea why they kept turning to Ben Stokes as it clearly wasn't his day.

SECOND ODI REVIEW + THIRD ODI NEWS

Once again we were incredibly lucky. Not sure how long this luck can last, but I'm thankful for it. Despite what Australia's bowling figures may suggest, I thought we bowled okay without luck. Moeen Ali and Adam Lyth are in great nick and gave us absolutely no chances at all. Gurinder Sandhu finally got the breakthrough and not long after Josh Hazlewood snared one too. It was clearly a batting strip, and didn't Steve Smith make the most of it? Smashing a very quick 112 with some great support from George Bailey who contributed a much deserved 54. Runs came really easily and a heavily bat dominated game, but it went the distance with Mitchell Starc hitting the winning runs with just two balls remaining.

Again, we won't really know the selected side until we can assess the pitch and conditions, but I'd prefer to have a frontline spinner in the side.

    Likely XI:

Aaron Finch, David Warner, Steve Smith (c), George Bailey, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, Matthew Wade, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood.

Haha that was crazy. Even heading into the last over, I think they needed something like 9 to win, and I still wasn't sure. Here's hoping we don't have too many of those going forward!!
