Batting advice

What's everyones advice on batting in the longer forms with defensive batters? i've always just batted on 3 bars through out innings. that works fine with normal to very aggressive batsman but i'm finding with a defensive batsman they tend to make a lot of 50s but their conversion isn't like an aggressive batsman, they also rarely score big hundreds. i'm thinking i should maybe bat them on 4 or 5 bars once they're in and on 50 depending on the pitch and weather but i would have thought batting a defensive batsman on aggressive wouldn't be playing to their strengths?

btw i am playing ICC 2013 atm not 14, i'm not sure that makes a big deal though
