  • Bangladesh - The Tigers' Journey to Glory

Welcome to this new save on Cricket Captain 2022! I am going to try to take Bangladesh to Number 1 in all formats of the game.

    2022-23 Series

2 Tests v South Africa (Away)
2 Tests v Sri Lanka (Home)
    2 Tests, 3 T20I's, 3 ODI's v West Indies (Away)
ODI Tournament v Pakistan and New Zealand (In New Zealand)
20 Over World Cup (In Australia)
    2 Tests, 3 ODI's v India (Home)
    3 ODI's v West Indies (Home)
    2 Tests, 3 ODI's, 3 T20I's, v Ireland (Home)

Some big series await, especially the away series v West Indies, a team I feel we have a good chance of beating. I would also like to win 2-3 matches in the T20 World Cup and maybe even reach the finals.

    Goals for this save

Bring Bangladesh to the No.1 world rating in all formats
Win the Test Championship and both World Cups.
    Develop some handy youth players.
Have a player at No.1 in any of the batting or bowling ratings.

ID:	80342 A pretty disappointing game to start the save! We elected to bat first on a road but our batters were just not up to the task. If it wasn't for a 55 run stand between Ali and Rahim we could've been bowled out for much less.

With the ball, we were absolutely abysmal. Shakib bowled very well, with good support from Murad on debut. Our pacers did not take a single wicket, which shows an area we need to improve.

We actually batted quite well in our second dig. Our top 4 all made 50's and at one point we were 2-213, but we lost wickets in clumps and fell to 330 all out If we had gotten 100 or so more runs we could've pushed for a win, but unfortunately we only lead by 7, which they made within 2 overs.

ID:	80344 What a game of cricket this was! They won the toss and batted first, and put on a good total of 409. We let this slip quite a bit though, at one point they were 178-5. The two youngsters, Murad and Mahmud both impressed, with 7 wickets between them

Our first innings was quite poor. Iqbal played very well for his century, but lacked any support whatsoever, in fact, no one else faced more than 63 deliveries!

We bowled much better in the 2nd innings, bowling them out for 273. Shakib picked up another 5fa in a dominant display, with Murad once again in the wickets.

Chasing 404, I didn't really have much faith, especially when Hasan Joy was dismissed early on for 5. But then Iqbal and Haque played majestically, both making tons and together, forming a 225 run partnership. From there, Hossain's 71* helped us get over the line with a little under 30 minutes left to play.

        Series Stats
        Most Runs
        T Iqbal 313 @ 78.25
        M Haque 182 @ 45.50
        L Das 180 @ 45
        M Rahim 97 @ 32.33
        M Hasan Joy 93 @ 23.25

        Most Wickets
        S Al Hasan 10 @ 19.10
        H Murad 10 @ 26
        H Mahmud 5 @ 30.80
        N Hasan 3 @ 44.33

        Player of the series (Bangladesh)
Tamim Iqbal. His twin tons in the second test helped us chase 404 with relative ease. Only one score of under 50 in the series is an incredibly good stat. Hopefully he can continue his good form against Sri Lanka.

ID:	80346 Anamul Haque comes in for his return to test cricket, with Mohammed Saifuddin making his debut.

We batted first and really, really struggled to get going. We were 108-5 at one point but a 136 run stand between Rahim and Shakib saved the innings.

We once again struggled to take wickets with the new ball. Our pace bowlers have just not been good enough so far in this save. Murad took his first 5fa, continuing his good form.

We fared much better second time around, posting a competitive 374 thanks to a Liton Das century. Unfortunately Anamul Haque was hit by a short ball and is out for two weeks with a fracture.

Shakib and Mahmud tried all they could to get us over the line, but we came up short in the end. Had we scored 50 or so more runs this result could have been very much different.

ID:	80348A pretty embarrassing result in a game we realistically, shouldn't have lost by that much.

I felt we bowled quite well in the first innings. We had them 44-3 at one point but their middle order worked hard to post a decent total of 231. Murad was once again impressive with 4 wickets.

We really fell apart in the latter part of our first innings. Hasan Joy was brilliant, making his maiden Test century, but lacked support. We lost 29-6 after being 227-4 at one point, which really hurt us.

Then, they pretty much sealed the result with some huge innings from Kamindu Mendis and Kamil Mishara. We tried 7 bowling options, showing how desperate we were for wickets.

Our last innings was a complete disaster. Only Shakib and Das put up a fight, and we were thrashed by 267 runs.

            Series Stats
            Most Runs
            L Das 195 @ 48.75
            S Al Hasan 191 @ 47.75
            M Hasan Joy 123 @ 61.50
            M Haque 115 @ 28.75
            T Iqbal 95 @ 23.75

            Most Wickets
            H Murad 12 @ 25.67
            S Al Hasan 10 @ 26.30
            N Hasan 5 @ 54
            H Mahmud 4 @ 55.5
            M Saifuddin 4 @ 62.25

            Player of the Series (Bangladesh)
Shakib Al Hasan. Played very well in a team that was struggling. If we had a few more contributors with bat and ball, we could be more competitive.

ID:	80351 I go for a bit more bowling depth, dropping Rahim and bringing in Mehedi Hasan. We bat first and really struggle to get going. No batter passes 50 and every player had a strike rate of under 50%.

The decision to have more bowling depth didn't work at all. They still easily made it to 354, only Murad bowling well.

Our second innings was slightly better, it was good to see Shakib and Tamim make some runs, but no one else fired.

They easily chased down a very modest total of 32, with our early wickets only delaying the inevitable.

ID:	80370What a game this was for us! We did well in every asset and it paid off with an innings victory.

We batted first and made a massive 680-8 declared, with Haque, Das and Yasir Ali all making tons to put us in an ominous position.

Then we were able to bowl them out twice in under 130 overs, with our spinners taking majority of the wickets.

                  Series Stats

                  Player of the series (Bangladesh)
Mominul Haque. His triple century enabled us to clinch the second test and take a 1-1 series draw.

ID:	80372 We were sent in to bat in overcast conditions, but that didn't throw our batters off. Naim made a very good start with Iqbal, allowing Das to play a handy 46 to get us just above 185. Rahman and Islam tore their top order to shreds, with them being 11-5 at one point. Hetmyer tried all he could with a very good 80, but it was too little too late.

ID:	80373 I always like to rotate players throughout limited overs series, but it didn't work this time. Evin Lewis and co. tore apart our bowlers to put an imposing 213 on the board. Iqbal and Hridoy gave it a good crack, but after they got out we fell apart to lose by 57 runs.

We batted first but were unable to get a good partnership and if it wasn't a 51 stand between Mahmudullah and Islam (who contributed 5) we could've been bowled out for much less. We bowled really well up until around the 35th over, where Bravo and Mayers took over and got them over the line with 4 wickets in hand.

ID:	80393 A thrilling game to begin the ODI tri-series, but unfortunately it didn't go our way. Rahim and Naim were the mainstays of our innings and along with a few handy knocks from our lower order, they got us to a respectable 259. We bowled quite well but unfortunately I stuffed up my counting and had Shakib bowl the last over instead of Rahman, which ultimately cost us as they hit a 4 from the final ball to clinch the game.

ID:	80394 A pretty embarrassing performance this. No one looked comfortable with the bat due to Imad Wasim and Hassan Ali's bowling exploits which reduced us to just 136 all out which was never going to be enough.
