  • Cricket Captain 2022 Features and Steam page

Cricket Captain 2022 is primed and ready, putting you in control. Can you manage your team to victory? A compelling year of cricket includes the 20 over World Cup and crucial internationals, overseen by a new England management structure. Cricket Captain includes a major re-structure of the player aggression system in both FC and one-day matches, providing greater realism, coaching options and analysis.

Limited over matches have been the main focus of development for Cricket Captain 2022, with new ball impact and swing movement balanced to reduce the wickets lost in white ball matches. Batsmen also settle more quickly, making collapses less prevalent. The aggression system mirrors a player’s real-strike rate precisely, modelling boundary hitting and accumulation ability. With new separate aggression ratings for all players for First Class and Limited Over match types, white ball cricket has never been as dynamic.

Cricket Captain 2022 features all domestic system changes, and a database update, including new international home and away player stats.
    Key features for 2022 include:
    • New Batting Aggression System: fine grained ratings mirroring real player ability, modelling accumulators and boundary hitters.
    • Expanded Coaching: new Batting Specialism options allow coaching of batting aggression and opener types.
    • Stadium Updates: updated stadium models to reflect ground changes.
    • One Day and 20 Over New Ball: reduced new ball and swing impact in limited over.
    • Reduced Batting Settled Impact: reduces batting collapses in 20 Over games.
    • Match Engine: significantly improved using the latest statistical analysis and user feedback.
    • International Home and Away Stats: analyse how your players perform at home and away.
    • English Domestic System: with the latest competition formats and squads.
    • Indian Domestic System: updated to match the new 20 Over format.
    • Improved New Player Generation: rebalanced with focus on real youth player abilities.
    • New Kits: updates to domestic teams in India and Bangladesh.
    • Test and ODI Championships: updated for the 2022 season.
    • Changing Teams: move between domestic and international teams in a save
    • Tournament Modes: play in stand-alone One Day or 20 Over World Cups. Create your own World XIs, All-Time Greats and Custom Match Series.
    • Keyboard control: improved keyboard system for PC and Mac versions.
    • Improved interface: improved button and row highlighting for PC and Mac versions.
Complete Stats Update for the 2022 Season:
    • Updated player database with over 7,000 players.
    • Added home and away international player stats.
    • Updated versus, ground and team records with partnerships, bowling and batting records and Fastest 50s/100s.
    • Updated domestic squads for all 150 playable domestic teams.
    • Updated recent series stats for all players.
    • Improved compression reduces save size and save time.

Cricket management goes to another level as Cricket Captain 2022 puts you in control. A major re-design of the player aggression system provides greater realism, coaching options and analysis. Limited over matches have been remodelled to give greater balance and reduce collapses.

As there's alot of PC users on here, I'm really pleased with the new highlighting changes, I know some hated the yellow, it didn't really suit the rest of the game colours. The new light blue row highlight makes it a much more soothing experience. You can see this on one of the Steam screenshots.

Real youth player ability generation is a big feature, that's been a big discussion point on here for a while.

OD and 20 over have had masses of work done to them this year, the AI changes are big, combined with separate FC/white-ball aggression types for players work really well together. Combined with the new coaching options, it works so much better now.

Looks awesome Sureshot. However, I see the font kerning across the numeral 7 remains unattended. Would've loved to have some options to correct that!

Most exciting would be the rebalancing of youth player abilities though. Will give the game another dimension with respect to gameplay.

Also, tweaking of T20 and LO aggression modes will definitely add to the already detailed algorithms. Can't wait to get this version too. All the best for the new release.

Changes and additions look fantastic, especially with rebalance of youth and regen players. Really looking forward to seeing this and the other new features in action!

I just want to clarify, does the rebalance of youth and regen players mean they won't be as good, or that they need more time to develop and won't be selected for internationals so quickly?

I say this with the massive respect i have for the game and it's developers. I was expecting a lot more. I really enjoy when the new version comes out and have bought a new version just about every year. I can't this year.

Does the “change teams” mean I could, say, start and international only game as a Bangladesh coach and move to Pakistan down the line?

One topic I cannot find anything about: has the number of playable international teams been increased? E.g. to include the Netherlands, Namibia, Nepal and so on to play a career with?
Must admit that's the main driver behind the decision whether or not to buy the 2022 version for me.

Out of interest are any new leagues being added like Ireland or Zimbabwe? Or has the new player gen for those countries been improved

Glad to see we can move between international teams now. Also interested to see how the new batting aggression system works. A big shame to see that associate nations are still not playable.

The Indian 20 over league has been updated to the new schedule and teams.

The new league that starts in January 2023 isn't in the game yet as no information about it has been revealed. Hopefully we can patch this in when we know teams and formats.

Real and fake youth players are now treated the same in ability generation. As for the criteria for international selection, I am checking this with Chris.

I notice that the Mac version states that keyboard controls are used . Can the mouse be used instead of keyboard controls on the Mac version ? Also how do the keyboard controls work on the Mac version?
