  • Batsman Fletcha Middleton included in Hampshire squad for their final BWT match..

Bats right handed, bowling style apparently OS but have never seen him bowl
Avg aggression from what I've seen

Would be great if he could be added

Billy Root seems a bit overrated. He's good in game but in reality I think he's solid at best and his slow scoring in t20s is a real issue for Glamorgan.

David Lloyd seems a touch underrated with that bat, he's a handy white ball opener.

Joe Cooke should be an opener.

Lukas Carey, Prem Sisidoya and Andrew Salter perhaps need small boosts, all have been fringe first team players for Glamorgan but don't appear to play in game. Salter is injured this season in real life but is a regular and very useful bowler in their t20 side. Roman Walker was also impressive when he broke onto the side last year but is an absolute no hoper in game.
In 2025 Prem Sisidoya plays for England in my save and is one of the best 4 spinners in the country. So if anything, reducing him a bit.

That's really interesting I haven't seen him get in the Glamorgan side so far in my current save with Leicestershire though I'm only in 2023.

I admit I did pick him for England but that’s because he was the best spinner in county cricket. 60 wickets at mid 20s average and 1 season he did well with the bat too. On test debut he got a 5 wicket haul and a fifty and has done well in ODI and T20I as well. I’ll screenshot and post his stats tomorrow

Wow. I play Glamorgan A LOT and have never had him come to anything more than his 2nd XI averages!

pick him for England? So you should!

            • I put down in a different thread that it is must be nigh on impossible to get the database spot on for every promising player, especially if they’ve had a few decent games, and that an element of randomness should be applied - a small chance of sinking without a trace, a greater chance of becoming an average player, a chance of becoming a good player, etc.

It has always felt like this is built in and so am wary of writing players off too quickly but reading your post I feel sure it must be built in because nothing in the player’s averages suggests anything more than a part-time 1st XI player. He has had a few decent games for Glamorgan but they were in fairly helpful conditions and he looked in great form.

I think maintaining a player database is both a science and an art. The science is resting established players bang on so they maintain their averages and levels of performances. The art is rating the potential of the unknown quantities, this is something Football Manager through it's extensive database scouting volunteers does well aside from the odd Cherno Samba!

                • This is something of a database suggestion and something I'd be interested on your thoughts regarding Nigel.

Increasingly we see players specialising in red or usually white ball cricket so I think the Opening batting positions should be split. Players can currently be set to bat at 3 in FC, 8 in LA and 5 in T20s if you want but perhaps due to the Opener technique training being sequential they can't be a red ball opener without opening in both other formats. Could I suggest that 'Opener technique' coaching is split into red ball and white ball opener technique allowing first class and white ball opening to be decoupled. I think this is both realistic and would be a powerful tool to help you keep the database accurate.

I also think it would be useful to have invisible flags coded in, these would function exactly the same as format retirement but be invisible and only affect the AI. So for example you could set Ian Cockbain to be 'Non first class' and the AI would then treat him as retired from first class however the player would be free to sign him and play him in their side if they want. Again I think this would be a really powerful tool to help you reflect the fact that sides are increasingly specialised. (T20 or red ball only contracts another thing that would help too).

Worth passing on to Chris do you think?

                    • That would do nicely! The potential could be there...

Fair call, given him a bit of a boost.

                        • Stuart Whittingham has retired due to injury. Real shame for a still young and promising bowler. Jerome Taylor also not joining now.

They've signed Jared Warner (who should be RMF) from Yorks seemingly like for like.

                          Replied in thread.
