  • CricketGaming Review : ICC 2009

International Cricket Captain Series has achieved a lot of popularity as it provided the gamers to experience being the captain of the team or a coach. ICC III was one of the best releases of this series and was on the top list in UK.

In the year 2009, the game was not expected to be released after Empire went into administration but luckily it was released and published by the Childish Things after gaining the copyrights.

Lol. The gameplay is great in this version of the game.

The scores, especially in Twenty/20, are very realistic.

Not sure about you but I played 4-5 times the T20 mode and the stats were like this.

Have to say I'm not with you either.

Just played an exhibition T20 match between the two teams you used, playing as Sri Lanka. This was my result:-

And, as far as I find, this is a pretty typical kind of result. After 7 seasons of county cricket with Sussex, I have only seen a result like yours twice, both as a result of poor opposition.

@Aura: The reason why there were two maidens and why David Warner had a low strike-rate in your Twenty20 fixtures is because you were batting at low aggression levels. As shown in the screenshot, you were chasing 73, and had obviously decided to bat fairly conservatively to make sure you reached the target without losing too many wickets. That's not the fault of the game; that was your choice of tactics.

Without sounding aggressive, the review of the gameplay element is just wrong. I can pretty confidently say you won't find a more realistic set of results in any other cricket game, including our own previous games. I'm not a big fan of T20, but I love the tactical challenge of it in the game, the scores are realistic, we've identified an area for improvement of number of sixes in this particular format. Gameplay is #1 for us and I'm pretty confident 2009 reflects that, though we recognise that it has some areas for improvement, which we will be doing our best to make even better for next year.

To be honest, I do think the game is running low on game mode depth, not that it stops me enjoying the game, because how many people have really long saves? So much to do, but we can have more.

I think anything under 8/10 for gameplay would be a mis-representation of the game.
