  • Young cricketers retiring

I am currently playing as Australia (and Sussex) and have just finished my first season, winning the one day World Cup and was just naming my squad for the matches against Bangledesh and noticed that my star player, Stephen O'Keefe, had retired at 26! Has this happened to anyone else before because this really needs to be fixed in a patch!

Yeh I have! Mitchell Marsh retired even younger than 26 I remember. Not sure how old he was but I think he was around 23.

Sometimes in the english county, domestic players that cost too much and aren't on a england salary are let go by a club and because of his price isn't bought by another club, which results in him retiring.
This might have happened to Mithel Marsh.

Yeah I had the same thing happen (complained about it in database reports thread).

Josh Hazlewood retired at 19 due to not being picked by his state team (NSW Blues), James Pattinson the same thing at 19 (for Victoria) and Alister McDermott at 18 (for QLD Bulls).

What should happen is even if players don't get picked for their county/state squad, they should still stay in the database and continue playing 2nd team cricket.

They should also improve while playing 2nd team cricket so when contract time comes around next season, they may have improved enough to get a contract with their state/club.

Players shouldn't be retiring till at the VERY LEAST 34.

I can top this. Playing as glamorgan i just got a youth batsman mid way through the season who was 20. I played him for about 4 fc matches he was averaging in the 30s. End of year he wasnt in my list to offer a contract to and wasn't in the youth pool either.

Yeah that is more like reality, as cricket has no more charm left after many match fixing issues. So better to start a career in some other sport???
Just 20 years old player got retired to become a soccer star??
OMG this game is so near to reality
